Next-generation Renault Clio coming to the 2012 Paris Motor Show

Renault is getting ready to launch the all-new fourth-generation Clio at the Paris Motor Show next year. Renault wants consumers to expect a design that’s more “emotional” and has better quality. Its interior is driver-focused. An Autocar report also stated that it will only be available as a five-door. Beatrice Foucher, the product manager of the company, confirmed at the Frankfurt Motor Show that a Renaultsport version of the Clio would be launched. She also divulged that the hot hatch will soon make use of a “downsized turbocharged engine.”

Foucher added the new Clio will have several of the front-end design cues of the DeZir concept last year. She said that the “main reference point” is the DeZir. The new Twingo shown at Frankfurt will offer even more clues like the more technical headlights, the big diamond logo, and black gloss grille. The new Clio will have a much sportier look as it will be a lower, wider car.

The Clio will come with a series of customizable interior and exterior options in order to transform the supermini into a stylish icon to compete with the Mini and Citroen DS3. Foucher said that the decision to remove the three-door model from the next Clio’s lineup is due to the fact that the five-door car has a bigger volume. He said that the three-door likely won’t be as profitable.
