2013 Renault Clio coming to the 2012 Paris Motor Show

Renault DeZir Concept

Set to go on sale by the end of 2012 is the new Renault Clio that aims to help the brand get back its sexy and sporty image. It will be unveiled this October at the Paris Motor Show. Renault will cut down its range in the UK as part of a plan to become profitable once again. This implies that Renault is putting a lot of importance on the all-new Clio 4. The Clio 4 is very distinctive and it’s a considerably lower and wider.

Its interior is of a higher quality than that of the Clio 3, which didn’t anywhere near the success of the top-selling original from the mid-1990s. Beatrice Foucher, Renault’s product planning chief, said that Renaults have to be “German first and French second.” She explained that the quality has to be improved before the focus is placed on design and innovation.

She said that current car has “no emotion” and so it’s fairly easy to boost its “design and sexiness.” The Clio 4 would be the first all-new model from design chief Laurens van den Acker who moved to Renault from Mazda in 2009. The Clio’s looks would be heavily inspired by the styling of the DeZir low-slung sports car concept displayed at the 2010 Paris motor show. Renault considers the DeZir to be the “spirit and DNA of what’s to come from Renault.” [source: Autocar]
