Set to make its U.S. debut on Jan. 9 at the North American International Auto Show is the production version of the all-new, rear-wheel drive 2013 Subaru BRZ sports car. The show will take place at the Cobo Hall in Detroit. Subaru of America Inc. said that the BRZ will be adding a new product line. The Subaru brand has recently revealed that its sales had grown for the past four years. It was also able to reach a new all-time vehicle sales record for 2011. Arriving in Subaru’s dealerships in late spring is the 2013 BRZ, which was designed with excellent handling in mind.
To achieve this target, Subaru engineers built a chassis that would offer the lowest possible center of gravity (CoG) that makes use of the exceptional packaging of the brand's Boxer engine design. They developed an all-new naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, 200-horsepower horizontally opposed (Boxer) engine. It was built to be more compact so that it may be positioned lower and farther back in the chassis. There had to be a rear-drive layout so that a low CoG is achieved. The mounting of the engine had to be at its lowest in the chassis. This engine placement enables a low polar moment and an almost perfect balance for pure sports car handling.
With a low vehicle weight of slightly more than 2,700 lbs., the direct injected 2.0-liter can hasten acceleration as it revs to its 7,400 RPM redline. A six-speed manual or automatic transmission is available for the Subaru BRZ. The BRZ achieves a slim, sleek, athletic stance with a 50.6-inch height, a swept-back roofline, bulging front fenders, short overhangs and distinct rear haunches. The Subaru BRZ provides daily comfort with a high dose of practicality with its 2+2 seating and trunk space that may be expanded. The 2013 Subaru BRZ also features the core powertrain and the chassis engineering of the brand.
