Toyota has started to offer the Mark X model for its home market in Japan. This model is built off of the Lexus GS platform as a sportier sedan option. Toyota gave the Mark X sedan in Japan some improvements comparable to what it did to refresh the 2013 model. Toyota’s 2013 Mark X has a bolder front end with angular headlights and a new grille. However, the rear end of the sedan received more subtle revisions, which include new taillights. With regards to powerplants, a 2.5-liter V6 with 203-hp is offered on the base model while a 3.5-liter V6 with 318-hp is meant for those who want a higher performance. The 2013 Mark X is offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. When compared to how the U.S. gets the GS 350 F-Sport model, Japan becomes sportier with the G’s Mark X that gets upgrades from Gazoo Racing. It offers a body kit and bigger wheels to match its larger brakes. Meanwhile, the Mark X’s handling is different from the factory model because of its sport-tuned suspension. Its engine options are similar to what’s offered on the standard Mark X. The 2013 Mark X has a starting price of about $31,000 in Japan. It could go as high as $53,500. So far, Toyota doesn’t plan on offering the Mark X outside of Japan.
