How the new Volvo V40 looks isn’t such a big secret now that several pictures of the model, including the interior, were leaked out. The pictures show that the five-door V40 derived styling cues from its sister vehicle Volvo XC60 SUV, most notably the front and rear light cluster designs. The Volvo V40 also mirrors the profile of the SUV, although it is smaller. The V40 is expected to be the first vehicle to be endowed with the company’s new range of modular four-cylinder VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) engines, which could carry no more than 2.0 litres of fuel. According to Autocar, Volvo will market the V40 to young, active families and will be marked as premium product within the VW Golf class. Volvo expects the V40’s labeling to appeal to the North American market. The company will unveil the V40 at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, along with baby sports utility vehicle XC40. The V40 will replace both the S40 and V50 in Volvo’s line-up.
