Volkswagen said that the 2013 Jetta Hybrid has a starting price of $25,790 (including a $795 destination charge). For fully equipped models, the prices could go as high as $31,975. The Jetta starts selling later this year. The highest-priced Volkswagen Jetta is the most fuel-efficient. Volkswagen had launched the 2013 Jetta Hybrid at last January’s Detroit auto show. It features a 1.4-liter turbo-four gasoline engine and electric motor/generator, which provides a combined 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The EPA didn’t release official figures yet. However, Volkswagen is claiming that its hybrid is capable of returning 45 mpg and that when running without the gasoline engine, it can reach speeds of up to 44 mph. In addition, the Jetta Hybrid can accelerate from zero to 60-mph run in 9.0 seconds.
The mentioned low price only applies to the base Jetta Hybrid, which will be offered exclusively through special orders only. It is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, power windows, automatic climate control, power windows, a CD player with Bluetooth and an auxiliary port, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. At these prices, the hybrid is clearly the \most expensive version of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. The base 2.0L S sedan has a starting price of $17,470 when it gets a 115-hp, 2.0-liter inline-four engine and five-speed manual transmission. Moving up to the 2.5L SE trim level gives the buyers a 170-hp inline-five engine and more equipment. It has an entry price of $19,790. The Jetta TDI diesel has a starting price of $23,785, while the sporty 200-hp Jetta GLI is priced at $24,740.
