Every 2013 Buick vehicle will be fitted with the IntelliLink infotainment system as standard equipment. This system made its debut on the 2012 Verano. IntelliLink works to lessen driver distractions with features such as voice activation and steering wheel controls. Several of its features are based on smartphone integration. One of its applications is the Pandora internet radio, which can be coupled with a smart phone, and controlled via voice commands. Buying a new Buick vehicle means that the consumers also get a three-month SiriusXM subscription. It features the SiriusXM travel link, a service that offers information like nearby fuel prices, movie theater show times, and weather reports. Buick has built a call center so that customers can learn about their vehicles, particularly their infotainment system. J.D. Power found out that many saw infotainment systems as being too complicated and so GM is taking steps to prevent future problems. Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Buick Sales and Service, said that the next generation infotainment customer has interactive technical experience and so “a higher level of service, support and solutions” is required. “As smartphones that stream and hold music grow ever more popular, we want to ensure Buick customers have connectivity that’s both intuitive and safe to use,” said IntelliLink lead engineer Tony Kraatz. “These updates make it easier to access the songs they love.”
