General Motors has revealed that its eagerly awaited 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel will make its debut at the Chicago Auto Show this week. GM had made it official that the Cruze diesel will be offered in the U.S. in 2011. Even if Chevrolet hasn’t unveiled the specific details of the Cruze Diesel, it has confirmed the compact sedan will use a version of its 2.0L turbodiesel. The European version of the 2.0L diesel delivers 161hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. No EPA rating has been attached to the Cruze Diesel yet but previous reports imply that the car can offer up to 50mpg on the highway, which beats the current Cruze Eco by 8mpg. It’s interesting how Chevrolet is referring to the Cruze Diesel's launch as a “world debut”, implying that the sedan could get some styling modifications. At the Geneva motor show last year, Chevrolet revealed a Cruze wagon with a new front fascia, so it's likely that these revisions will make it to the 2014 Cruze sedan. The Cruze Diesel is one of 22 new diesel-powered models that will be launched in the U.S. this year.
