The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be refreshed at the middle of its cycle. Its fuel economy rating will be improved with the use of a new eight-speed automatic transmission that debuted in the Chrysler lineup in the 300 in 2011. Paddle shifters will be offered in all models. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said that several of its vehicles will be available with both eight- and nine-speed automatics, which will go on sale as early as the 2013 model year. As a result, the fuel efficiency improved by up to 16%. It isn’t probable that the Grand Cherokee will receive drastic enhancements, considering that it will get an eight-speed, if we are to believe Jeep garage’s tweets. But what’s sure to happen is that it will offer better mileage. Jeep will be available with an eight-inch navigation touch screen, which makes it 1.5 inch bigger than the existing model. The interior of the 2014 model will get minor revisions. It will also get a modified rear fascia. The company will release a special version of the 2013 SRT8 named the “Alpine Edition,” which would probably be a special trim package. There are also rumors that it will get a set of 20-inch five-spoke “vapor chrome” wheels and a bright white paint finish. [source: AutoGuide]
