2014 Opel Astra receives new diesel engine, IntelliLink technology

Opel updated its Astra model for the 2014 model year, after last year it restyled the entire Astra family. For the 2014MY, Opel Astra receives a new 1.6-liter CDTI diesel engine and the IntelliLink infotainment system with Bluetooth interface. The new 1.6-liter CDTI engine delivers 135 hp (100 kW) and 320 Nm of torque and is already compliant with the Euro 6 emissions regulation as it emits only 104 g/km CO2.

Despite this, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.3 seconds and pushes the vehicle to a top speed of 200 km/h or 124 mph. The new IntelliLink system integrates smartphone functions into the car, while the 7 inch high-resolution color monitor guarantees simple operation. As a new feature with the CD 600 IntelliLink Infotainment system, telephone calls via Bluetooth and audio streaming are possible.

The system also features a USB connection. The navigation system now comes as standard with the Navi 650 IntelliLink and Navi 950 IntelliLink. The top variant Navi 950 IntelliLink covers the whole of Europe with its maps and destinations can be entered without a problem via voice control.

The new Active- option pack comes with special features such as energy-saving LED daytime running lights, the CD 600 IntelliLink system including color display, Aux-In-, USB- and hands-free equipment via Bluetooth interface, as well as Piano Black Décor Moldings in the cockpit. [source: Opel]
