Toyota’s next generation Corolla will start to arrive at U.S. dealerships in 2013. Toyota said that its styling updates will be even more significant than what was observed when the brand new Avalon was introduced. The Corolla is recognized as the top-selling nameplate of all time. In addition, it is Toyota’s No. 2 model when it comes to biggest sales in the U.S. According to Billy Fay, General Manager of Scion and Toyota brands, the styling changes on the new compact are “even more dramatic” than the Avalon redesign. The last time that the Corolla was redesigned for the U.S. market was in 2007. Corolla deliveries had grown by 11% this June compared to the same period in 2011. Even with the recall crisis and the more intense competition posed by faster and flashier compact cars, the Corolla continues to be a best-seller. It had more sales than the Civic in 2011 with a lead of almost 10,000 cars. However, the sales of the Matrix (its hatchback sibling) were included in the Corolla’s figures.
