About 30 to 40 worldwide vehicle debuts will take place at the 2011 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Show), according to show organizers. The Audi A6, Chrysler 300, Ford Escape concept, Honda Civic concept and the Toyota Prius MPV will be among those that will be presented at the Detroit show. The 2011 show marks Porsche’s return after several years. Porsche is set to reveal a new supercar concept. The show includes GEM, Wiki Speed, Saba Motors, Venturi and ZF Industries as its participants. Press days for the show starts on Jan. 10 and visitors may go to the show from Jan. 15 to 23.

At the 2010 show, 37 production and concept vehicles were introduced, including 27 worldwide debuts. But there are also companies that have opted not to participate in the 2011 show. They include Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Rolls Royce, Fisker and Suzuki. The only Chinese automaker in the show is electric-vehicle maker BYD Corp.

This week, BYD had said that it seeks to start testing a fleet of electric vehicles in the U.S. late next year. According to show chairman Barron Meade, media and public attendance are expected to swell from the 2010 show when organizers released 4,536 media credentials and had 714,137 visitors.
