9ff Speed9 based on the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio
At the upcoming Essen Motor Show, one of the highlights is the 9ff Speed9 — German tuner 9ff’s second independent complete vehicle. The vehicle is based on the potent 997 Turbo and pays homage to the Porsche 356/ 1500S Speedster of 1955. 9ff made some modifications that give it more power and handling prowess. More details and photos after the jump!
For the body, 9ff shortened the windshield and replaced the rear rump, which houses the folding roof, with a flat hard cover for that speedster “level vehicle silhouette” look. The bi turbo engine is able to generate 478kW (650hp) and 890Nm at 2,850rpm.
To achieve these results, engineers used a sports air filter, upgraded the ECU, and installed a 9ff sports exhaust system including a new sports catalytic converter. The car also has a Tiptronic gearbox with integrated paddles. The improved handling comes from adjustable stabilizers on the front and rear axles, double springs and four aluminum spring plates.
To control its power, the car has a 9ff brake system consisting of 380mm “compound” brake discs, 6-piston calipers and 9ff brake pads. The aerodynamic package includes a front apron, side skirts and a rear apron. For the interior, the car was given an alcantara dashboard, special 9ff Speed9 sports seats and a sports steering wheel. While performance figures have yet to be released, 9ff reveals that it may customize the car according to the buyer’s preferences.
