The 160hp version of the Fiat 500 Abarth has made its North American debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. This vehicle made a strong impression on its promotional campaign, which included a commercial that continues to be talked about today. Fiat’s Italian in-house tuning division revealed that it has prepared a lineup that will be displayed at the 2011 Bologna Motor Show that opens Dec. 3.
A couple of production 595 Abarths -- the 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione -- were already unveiled before the official debut. These are both powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with an output of 160 hp, enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.4 seconds while achieving a top speed of 211km/h (131mph). The standard equipment on the Turismo includes an electrically-operated manual transmission that come with controls on the steering wheel.
Instead of the shifter, it features control setting buttons similar to those on a Lambo. The body gets a two-tone black on red scheme finish. It is also equipped with a set of 17-inch wheels as well as other exterior modifications. Inside the 595 Turismo, we see that its seats, dash and steering wheel use two-tone red and black leather.
