Abarth to present Scorp-Ion design concept at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Abarth Scor-Ion IED Design

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Abarth will display a Scorp-Ion design concept, a prototype all-electric vehicle with Abarth branding. This concept was developed by students of Master of Arts in Transportation Design (Instituto Europeo di Design - Milan, Italy), with the support of Pirelli and OZ. These seven students were supervised by Luca Borgogno, senior designer at Pininfarina and Giampaolo and Louis, Maserati designer.

Its creators said that the vehicle has the two main assets expected of any Abarth car: sporty and compact.

Two passengers can be accommodated in this car that’s powered by four electric motors, one for each wheel, deriving power from a lithium-ion battery.

So that there is an optimal weight distribution between the axles, the battery pack is placed behind the seats, under the luggage space. This also lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity.
