AC Cobra MKVI making its debut at Monaco’s Top Marques Auto Show

AC Cobra MKVIThe wraps on the current revival of the classic Cobra was removed by AC Cars and it is called the MKVI which is equipped with the powerplant of a Corvette and the brakes of a Porsche. The company has struck a long-term strategic partnership with Gullwing GmbH of Germany which will be producing the latest creation in its Heyda factory. The car will be crafted by hand, with a body constructed partly in aluminum and will be placed over a triangulated, jig-welded spaceframe chassis. There will only be one powerplant that will be available, a Corvette 6.2-liter V8 unit that produces 437 hp for the GT and 647 hp for the GTS version. More details and photo gallery after the jump! Performance is expected to be remarkable considering that the curb weight of the machine is just 1025kg and the firm claims that it can sprint from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds for the GTS. Exact suspension settings have not yet been revealed but AC Cars claims that it will be race inspired but ideally adapted to the road. The stopping power of the cars will come from Porsche‚ four-pot brakes with aspirated discs measuring 332mm for the front and 298 for the rear. The new cars will come with German carpets and leather hides ensuring a luxurious and comfortable interior. The MKVI is patterned after the Le Mans-winning Cobra, AC Cars claims, and will come with a built-in hardtop. For more accessibility, small gullwings above the doors lift up, while the car can be utilized as a full convertible. The MKVI will showcase in Monaco on April 16 at the Top Marques Auto Show.
