The Acura ZDX crossover had only been available in the market for less than four years but it would be dropped from the brand’s portfolio after the 2013 model year. Acura had confirmed the discontinuation of the ZDX. It also announced a few minimal modifications to the controversial crossover for the 2013 model year. The ZDX was stripped of its clunky, beak-like grille. Instead, stylists gave it a more slender shape in line with what’s used on the new ILX, RDX, and revised TL sedan. Slight revisions were made to the front and rear bumpers. The interior also gets sports new trim finish and an optional “high-contrast” color scheme. The new ZDX has an amended price/ content structure.
The 2012 model is available in three grades and has a starting price of $47,015 (including destination). Meanwhile, the 2013 ZDX is offered in just one guise and has a base price of $51,815. It is still powered by a 3.7-liter V-6, which is partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s signature torque-vectoring SH-AWD all-wheel-drive system.
This may be a price increase but the value has also improved. What are offered as standard equipment are items previously seen on the Technology and Advanced Packages such as perforated Milano leather seating, navigation, a Panasonic ELS surround sound audio system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning systems. The 2012 ZDX increased its sticker price to $57,565, which makes the 2013 ZDX about $6000 more affordable than a 2012 model with similar features.
