Acura unveils 2012 TSX Special Edition

2012 Acura TSX Special Edition

Acura announced that a new version of the TSX sports sedan for the 2012 model year is now available. Acura, which is presently celebrating its 25th anniversary, designed the TSX Special Edition to be reminiscent of the enjoyable 4-cylinder Acuras in the past. The TSX Special Edition will be sportier due to multiple exterior and interior improvements for Acura's entry-level sedan. Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales, said that the Acura TSX has earned a reputation for having high-revving 4-cylinder engines and a sporty driving nature.

Conrad said that the addition of this new Special Edition makes the TSX “even more youthful and sporty in character, furthering its appeal to performance-minded buyers." Several exterior upgrades were made on the 2012 TSX Special Edition package, such as a more aggressive front spoiler, a new rear bumper fascia, unique side sills and an exclusive "Special Edition" badge on the trunklid. Its 17x7.5-inch, 5-spoke aluminum wheels will get a polished finish with dark grey background, something that’s only available in the Special Edition model. The TSX Special Edition utilizes sport-minded appointments such as exclusive seating surfaces with perforated black Lux Suede® inserts with red backing.

Additional features include unique red stitching, used for the seats, steering wheel and the shift knob, combines with red lighting for the instrument cluster gauges, overhead lighting and footwell lighting. The driver's footwell has been given more appeal with the use of aluminum pedal covers with a race-inspired look. The interior upgrades for this Special Edition include the use of bright silver plating for the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters as well as black headliner material. The standard TSX uses grey headliner material. The TSX Special Edition package is powered by Acura's much-admired K24 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and will be offered with either the close-ratio 6-speed manual or Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmissions. On September 22, the TSX Special Edition will make its public debut at the Orange County International Auto Show. It will start selling in late September.
