Jeep’s dealers may soon come up with an alternative to a factory-made Wrangler-based pickup. American Expedition Vehicles will get the Jeep-badged AEV Brute Double Cab to dealers as a turnkey conversion beginning in the second quarter. The company, which supplies aftermarket parts for Jeep-brand products, displayed the truck at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention. Pricing wasn’t announced but it’s likely to cost from $65,000 to $95,000, depending on the options. AEV begins with a four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The chassis is stretched by 23 inches, to 216 inches, and a 5-foot truck bed will be added to the rear. The Brute is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine that won’t be offered in traditional Wrangler vehicles, and the five-speed automatic transmission used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
