Alcoa presents new wheels built using aerospace technology

Alcoa announced that it has built wheels using aerospace technology, improving performance and dynamics while at the same time, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The new 20-inch Alcoa wheels have been made with aerospace-derived metallurgy, the same method used to manufacture wheels for the Boeing 747 airplane. The forging process improves the strength while reduces weight over cast or multi-piece wheels. Pricing for the new 20-inch Alco rims, which weigh 7.5 kg, will be announced at a later date.
