Alfa Romeo 4C will enter production and become firm’s halo car

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

Alfa Romeo’s return to the U.S. is even more eagerly awaited with reports that Fiat has filled the 4C sports coupe with a lot of lightweight carbon fiber and offers it with a 230hp turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant, rear-wheel-drive and a 0-60 mph sprint time of 4.5-seconds. At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the concept debuted with a matte red finish. Earlier this year, it was displayed in Frankfurt with a liquid-metal finish.

Top Gear has confirmed that Alfa Romeo’s 4C will enter production. Testing starts next year and it is expected to arrive in the market in 2013. It’s speculated that the 4C has a price tag of about £45,000, which is approximately $70,000.

A vehicle with this pack and performance would be a force to reckon with in this price range in Europe. Fans in the U.S. are certainly on the lookout of its arrival as Chrysler reintroduces the brand to the US. It’s possible that Alfa Romeo will release a 4C model that delivers up to 300hp. A roadster variant may also be arriving later on. [source: AutoGuide]
