Audi will start selling a hardcore RS3 version of the new Audi A3 hatchback in early 2014, much earlier than expected. Typically, Audi's RS editions will go on sale towards the end of the lifecycle of every model. For example, the previous RS3 had its launch only months before the A3 on which it was based ended production. But Stephan Reil, the chief of Audi's Quattro division, announced that the next RS3 will be launched a little more than a year after the S3, which was revealed at the recently held Paris motor show. Just like all of the RS models, the new RS3 will be four-wheel drive. It will almost surely be equipped with the same 335bhp five-cylinder turbocharged engine as the older model. Reil said that consumers can expect to see more of the five-cylinder engine.
