When it was announced in January, the Opel Crossland X was seen as an actual rival to the Renault Captur and the Peugeot 2008. Yet, the Opel Crossland X (Vauxhall Crossland X for its United Kingdom-bound version) shares its underpinnings with the Peugeot 2008, thanks to a collaboration agreement inked between Opel and the PSA Group in 2012.
In a twist of fate, the new Opel Crossland X will be a part of the PSA Group – a result of the impending acquisition of Opel/Vauxhall by the French carmaker from General Motors. PSA’s acquisition of Opel from GM was very big news, and thanks to that, a lot of attention has been given to the new model that would mark a new beginning for the would-be larger French company. Following the footsteps of its Opel siblings, the new Opel Crossland X is now bound to enter the sub-compact crossover market, and it is slightly cheaper than the Peugeot 2008. In fact, the new Opel Crossland X could now be availed in Germany at a starting price of €16,850 (RRP including VAT in Germany).
Interested customers may choose to power their Crossland X with any of the three 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engines or any of the two 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel mills. The three 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engines include a unit delivering 60 kW (81 hp) of max output; a turbocharged mill providing 81 kW (110 hp) in output and 205 Nm of peak torque; and a turbocharged powerplant generating 96 kW (130 hp) of output and 230 Nm of torque.Read the entire article 2017 Opel Crossland X is now on sale in Germany with starting price of €16,850
There is no longer any need for stolen shots from spy photographers on the Internet. BMW has released the official teaser photos of the new 2018 BMW X3 (G01). The disguised prototype on the film is none other than BMW’s 3rd generation luxury SUV, which was recorded while being tested in Sweden. If you didn’t know, it’s freezing cold out there.
Temperatures as low as -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius) are not unusual in the town of Arjeplog, which is only 35 miles away from the Polar Circle. This will enable BMW to test the X3 under extreme conditions --- as it has the most suitable environment to push the X3’s DTC (dynamic traction control) and DSC (dynamic stability control) systems to the limits.
Also according to BMW, Arjeplog’s rural roads and frozen lakes are ideal testing grounds for the crossover’s xDrive All-Wheel Drive module. As a whole, the snow-clad surfaces serve as a perfect venue to thoroughly check how well the suspensions and steering work when driving the new SUV. In short, it is important that the vehicle performs normally given the cold temperatures.Read the entire article 2018 BMW X3 (G01) faces the hard winter
Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi Motors is indeed resurrecting a nameplate that has made its mark in four generations from 1989 to 2012. Yes, the Mitsubishi Eclipse moniker is back, but it won’t be a sports car anymore. Instead, Mitsubishi is now using the moniker to identify its latest crossover offering that makes its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
If you think you have already seen the face of Mitsubishi latest crossover, it is highly likely you have. This is because the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross boasts of being closely similar – especially on the front end -- to the carmaker’s previous design studies like the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV (2013 Tokyo Motor Show), Mitsubishi XR-PHEV II (2015 Geneva Motor Show) and the Mitsubishi eX concept (2015 Tokyo Motor Show).
Mitsubishi’s new compact SUV is fitted with a sharp body and a slightly raked roofline, making it appear like a “coupe SUV.” The seemingly slanting body of this new compact SUV features a prominent character line, as accentuated by the vehicle’s pronounced wheel arches. It also features a sharply truncated rear gate as well as short overhang.Read the entire article Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross compact SUV is on display at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
In a move toward building more SUVs and perhaps more projects in the future, Audi is about to introduce a brand new RS model this coming March. And guess what? The latest Audi to be wearing the Renn Sport Racing badge is none other than the Audi Q5. With that being said, the Audi RS Q5 will be the first in the model range to have the performance brand’s profile aside from of course, the existing Audi RS Q3.
With only a few weeks left before the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Audi Sport’s Stephan Winkelmann has finally confirmed they are indeed showcasing 450 horsepower Audi RS Q5 at the event. In a statement, the former Lamborghini CEO mentioned about the significance of the upcoming motor show in Geneva and how the RS will be setting a new era for their B-segment.
Although the Audi RS Q5 will be using the SQ5 platform, the RS portfolio will definitely enhance its performance. Chances are great that it will be using an improved version of the SQ5’s current 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine. If not, then it could also make use of the 2.9-liter V6 engine from Porsche. Speculations are quite strong that its engine will be a joint development between Porsche and Audi. Either way, the RS Q5 is expected to accelerate from 0-62mph under five seconds. The SQ5, as we know, normally runs from 0-62 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds.Read the entire article Audi to launch RS Q5 in 2017 Geneva Motor Show
Subaru is yet to unveil the next generation XV in Geneva, but we can almost tell how it will look like. Apparently, a teaser of Subaru’s upcoming 2018 Crosstrek model has already surfaced both online and on social media platforms. At first impression, the production version of the new crossover is virtually the same as the XV concept that the Japanese brand had put on display at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. And by the way, the 2017 Geneva Motor Show will be on March 7. In the meantime, let’s analyze the teaser photo since it is all that we’ve got so far.
Although the image is somewhat hiding under its own shadow, the sporty and rugged appeal of the concept XV is apparent. Besides, you don’t have to be an expert here just to compare the previous concept with the final product. You can see its entire shape right on the spot including its wide and low body stance, two tone alloy wheels as well as the new integrated door handles and the mirrors on both sides.
But since the Japanese auto maker hasn’t said a word about the specs, we can only assume for now. As far as we know, the Crosstrek will be sharing the same platform as with the new Subaru Impreza. In this case, we’ll be expecting it to come with an updated version of the current model’s 2.0 litre engine along with AWD, improved fuel consumption and more spacious interior. If there is more, the compact crossover will also have the brand’s latest version of Starlink Infotainment system and EyeSight safety assistance technology on board. Also, it is supposed to be capable of running the latest Android Auto and Apple Car Play integration for your smart device.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru Crosstrek revealed through a teaser photo
You can’t accuse Toyota of being boring. This is particularly true when it unveiled its new Toyota C-HR at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Its design was both innovative and stunning, and was a definitive cross between a coupe and a SUV. Well, that is what its name really means, as C-HR stands for Coupe-High Rider.
Barely a month after commencing sales of the new Toyota C-HR in Japan, the carmaker is showcasing a pair of new C-HR compact crossovers at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon, both dressed by Toyota’s in-house performance and racing tuner, Toyota Racing Development or simply known as TRD. To note, this was not the first time that an in-house tuner at Toyota gave the C-HR a new perspective. If you could remember, Modellista, Toyota’s design division also unveiled new body kits for the new Toyota C-HR crossover -- the “Elegant Ice Style” and “Boost Impulse Style” packages. These packages bring out the elegant and chic character of the new Toyota C-HR.
Of course, TRD won’t be silent regarding Toyota’s latest creation. Just like Modellista, TRD is also offering two styling kits for the C-HR, both aimed at making the crossover look more aggressive and dynamic on the road. These two distinct styling kits -- the “Extreme Style” and “Aggressive Style” design packages – don’t touch the power setup for the new Toyota C-HR. What all these body kits accomplished was to make the new C-HR look more menacing, although the compact crossover already sports an aggressive appearance.Read the entire article TRD creates menacing body kits for new Toyota C-HR compact crossover
After seeing spy shots only last year, what we thought was the new Meriva MPV turned out to be something else entirely. Opel welcomes the new Crossland X, its newest addition to the X lineup that also represents the company’s bestselling Mokka X SUV. Placed under the European B-segment, Opel’s latest crossover will be the new replacement to the Meriva model.
For safer and more pleasurable driving experience, the Crossland X is offered with the latest assistance and safety technologies such as Opel’s Side Blind Spot, Speed Sign Recognition, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Drowsiness warning and Automatic Emergency Braking system. Drivers can also make use of its Forward Collision alert with pedestrian detection technology as well as the Advanced Park Assist for better convenience and safety.
Unfortunately, there are no exact details yet about its engine range. What we only know is that the Crossland X will come in different types of engine including gasoline, diesel and LPG as well as a choice between automatic and manual transmissions. But then, further details will surely come out before its official debut this coming March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show.Read the entire article 2017 Opel Crossland X replaces Meriva in the B segment
Each time that Mini launches a new generation of the Countryman crossover, a John Cooper Works performance version is always expected to follow. When Mini unveiled the next-gen 2017 Mini Countryman at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, people were also expected the carmaker to release a JCW variant – especially that the current generation had one.
Now, it is official. Mini will be offering John Cooper Works version of the new-gen Countryman. Bound for launch for the 2018 model year, the new Mini John Cooper Works Countryman takes the Mini Countryman to a whole new level, both in terms of looks and performance. Mini is planning to unveil the new Mini John Cooper Works Countryman to the global public the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2017, with sales in the United States set to commence in the same month.
Even at a glance, the new Mini John Cooper Works Countryman exudes a fusion of athleticism and versatility. It is also laden with a number of features that distinguish it from a typical Countryman. Measuring 169.8 inches in length, 71.7 inches in width and 61.3 inches in height, this performance version of the Mini Countryman has been given a number of model-specific features like the John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit. It isn’t merely speculation anymore – Nissan is bringing the Qashqai mid-size crossover to the United States, but with a different name. In fact, Nissan has confirmed that this mid-size crossover will have its debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, widely known as the Detroit Auto Show.
As we have reported, Nissan intends for the Qashqai to fill the size gap between the smaller Juke and the larger Rogue. The addition of the Qashqai – the best-selling mid-size SUV in Europe -- as a complement to the Juke and the Rogue would allow Nissan to benefit from the seemingly insatiable hunger for SUVs in the US, where motorists have been switching from passenger cars to utility vehicles. While there is a real business case for the US launch of the Qashqai in the US, Nissan was expected to rename the SUV since American buyers might have some trouble pronouncing “Qashqai.”
Nissan did rename the Qashqai as the new Nissan Rogue Sport. Nissan eventually decided to use the Rogue moniker – with the Sport suffix – as it is already a known nameplate in the US. Mike Bunce, Nissan North America vice president of product planning, remarked that since Nissan managed to build a lot of equity on the Rogue, it only makes sense to piggyback on its popularity by renaming the Qashqai as the Rogue Sport.Read the entire article 2017 NAIAS: Nissan unveils the US-bound Qashqai as Rogue Sport
This rumor is not something new – it has been lingering since 2015 – that Japanese carmaker Nissan is bringing its Qashqai to the United States. The best-selling mid-sized crossover in Europe could be coming to American soil with a possible debut this month at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, The Truth About Cars reports citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
Nissan has been experiencing increasing demand for the larger Rogue SUV in the US. With this, the Qashqai could be marketed in the US as a more compact and more economical version of the Rogue. In fact, the Nissan Qashqai features a number of similarities with the Rogue. While both are underpinned by the same architecture, the Qashqai is shorter than the Rogue by around 10 inches. Moreover, the wheelbase of the Qashqai is shorter than that of the Rogue by two inches. These dimensions meant that the Qashqai offers a smaller cargo space on the rear than the Rogue.
Should speculations be true, then Nissan would be able to slot the Qashqai between the Juke and the Rogue. Until now, there has been a gap between the Juke and Rogue. By introducing the Qashqai to North American customers, Nissan could effectively bridge this gap between the smaller Juke and the larger Rogue.Read the entire article 2018 Nissan Qashqai is speculated to debut at 2017 Detroit Auto Show
Shortly after launching the latest Toyota crossover, the brand’s in house tuners have also come out with a range of custom upgrades. One of them is Modellista, Toyota’s design division, which offers new body kits for the new C-HR. The distinctively shaped body comes with its “Elegant Ice Style” and “Boost Impulse Style” packages.
All things considered, Modellista has kept the new Toyota C-HR’s drivetrain as with its usual design protocol. In that case, the C-HR is packed with the same 85kW over 185 Nm, 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
In line with this, Toyota TRD has also released its own tuning package. The TRD offers two distinct styling kits, which includes the “Extreme Style” and “Aggressive Style” design upgrades. The new C-HR styling kits are currently available in Japan.Read the entire article Toyota C-HR sizzles with Modellista body kit
The recently concluded 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show has just showcased the new generation Mazda CX-5. And with it comes a rendered version for an MPS variant. Let us see what the guys from X-Tomi Design are up to.
To begin, the MPS-wearing CX-5 features a variety of body panels to make it sportier and stand out from the standard mid-size SUV. As you can see, the most prominent design goes to the black trim along the front grille and the much-larger set of wheels. The low riding Mazda CX-5 also has new side skirts, lip spoiler and front bumper to complete the MPS get-up. So there it is! X-Tomi has done an impressive job.
Of course there is no actual confirmation if this will come into production. That said, Mazda has concocted a new paint color for the SUV befitting its latest “KODO Soul of Motion” styling. The “Soul Red Crystal” as they call it is the more premium version of Mazda’s Soul Red body paint.Read the entire article X-Tomi’s rendering of the latest CX-5 Mazda Performance Series is simply stunning
We have good news for those who are waiting for the latest version of the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. It was just unveiled in November at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, and now the Japanese carmaker is busy assembling the 2017 Mazda CX-5 at its production facilities in Japan.
In fact, a number of CX-5 models – those wrapped in the new Soul Red Crystal color – have been rolled off the production line at the carmaker’s Ujina Plant No. 2 located near its global headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan. The initial batches of the new 2017 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover will arrive in Japan in February 2017 and in other global markets right afterwards.
Developed as “an SUV all customers will enjoy,” the new Mazda CX-5 is designed to provide superior passenger comfort with its quiet and finely crafted cabin and pleasant ride. In an effort to improve the crossover’s motion control, Mazda fitted the 2017 CX-5 with the G-Vectoring Control that could tweak its engine’s torque level to allow easier steering. Three engines are available for the 2017 Mazda CX-5: SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and 2.5 gasoline units and the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel powerplant.Read the entire article 2017 Mazda CX-5 production kicks off in Japan
Let’s just admit it – the MINI Countryman John Cooper Works is a crossover that is not just hot-looking but is also an elegant sporty performer. This is why each time that Mini unveils a new Countryman crossover, sporty minded customers are already watching out for the John Cooper Works performance version of this vehicle.
Just recently, Mini unveiled the next generation Mini Countryman – starting 2017 model year -- at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. And since the previous generation had a JCW version for almost every model year, the next-generation Countryman is also heavily expected to have its own variant. Right now, Mini is probably in the final stages of completing the John Cooper Works version of the Countryman. Not a few are expecting that the Countryman that has been tested at the Nurburgring throughout the year is the next JCW version.
However, it remains a mystery how the next Mini Countryman John Cooper Works would look like. At the Nurburgring, the Mini Countryman believed to be the JCW was wrapped in camouflage so the appearance of this performance-oriented version was far from being totally exposed. However, the camouflaged Mini Countryman clearly reveals larger air intakes on the front bumper, new side skirts, a modified rear bumper and newly designed alloy wheels.Read the entire article 2018 MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman rendered
Sustainable mobility has been the battle-cry of the BMW Group since it launched BMW i three years ago in November 2013. Since then, the BMW Group has been relentless in delivering electrified vehicles on the road, including purely electric-powered cars and plug-in hybrids. In fact, as the German carmaker has disclosed, it has already delivered around 100,000 of these non-conventional vehicles to customers around the globe.
These deliveries are a testament to BMW Group’s role as a pioneer of innovation and technology. Since its establishment, BMW i has been the center of BMW Group’s efforts to offer sustainable vehicles – including purely electric-powered cars and plug-in hybrids -- to global customers. For the past three years, more than 60,000 units of the BMW i3 have been sold to discerning buyers, earning this car the recognition as the most successful EV in the premium compact segment. BMW commenced sales of the BMW i8 in mid-2014.
Since then, BMW Group has sold over 10,000 units of the BMW i8, making this offering the best-selling electrified sports cars. In addition, BMW Group has delivered around 30,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles – now sold under the BMW iPerformance label – so far. Thus, in total, BMW Group has effectively sold around 100,000 electrified offerings worldwide.Read the entire article BMW celebrates milestone of 100,000 EVs sold, confirms arrival of X3 EV
Back in 2011, Mini introduced what was then the Mini Paceman Concept at the North American International Auto Show and not long after, the British automaker brought this subcompact, three-door crossover SUV to production. The production model was unveiled in 2012 with similar choices as those of the Countryman, ranging from a two- or four-wheeled version to a 1.6-liter petrol or diesel engine and a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder diesel-powered engine.
BMW then announced in early 2015 that the Mini Paceman will no longer continue its line of quirky crossovers. It was reported in September that this unconventional crossover SUV will go out of production by the end of this year, leaving behind only three generations.
However, a new report from AutoExpress says that a “spiritual successor” of the Mini Paceman might be introduced in 2018. We learned this after an interview with BMW Group design chief Adrian van Hooydonk hinting that the British automaker is considering a new lineup for the Countryman which will serve as an “indirect replacement” for the Paceman and will be named the Countryman coupe.Read the entire article 4-door MINI Countryman Coupe set to arrive in 2018, will take slot left by Paceman
Opel has revealed that it is preparing to upgrade its line-up and it is expected to start with the Crossland X and six other models. Much like the Mokka, the upgraded model will continue to end with the “X” in its name. This ensures that it will be part of the brand’s crossover program.
Opel has scheduled the official debut of this model in the early part of 2017. Through the Crossland X, the Germany-based automaker believes that this will start the move to crossovers that offer more space and are more athletic. In simple terms, Opel hopes that the Crossland X will be the larger alternative for the Mokka.
In addition to the Crossland X, Opel hopes that at next year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, it will present its newest compact crossover. This will be sold at the same time as the Zafira, a model that Opel created while working with PSA. Since the Zafira is considered as the Peugeot 3008’s sibling, it will have the same look with the difference being that it carries Opel badges. The other models that will be part of the upgrades include the new Insignia and even the three body variants, cross-country, estate, and sedan, of the Country Tourer, Grand Sport, and Sports Tourer.Read the entire article Opel confirms new Crossland X crossover
MINI is giving out an early Christmas treat for their fans – a brand new hybrid drivetrain for its first hybrid model complete with an electric range of 24 miles and a 1.5-liter turbo-three engine.
It is by far, the most important feature of the second-generation Mini Countryman, built from the experience of creating the all-electric Mini E as well as the lessons learned from BMW’s i3 and i8 plug-in vehicles. Complete with all the functionalities of a standard car as well as an all-wheel-drive capability, the new Cooper S E Countryman is made extra special with a healthy dose of efficiency.
This new plug-in electric vehicle is installed with a dual-powertrain setup in such a way that a turbocharged, 1.5-liter inline-three engine sits right under its hood while an electric motor sits pretty right under the luggage floor around the back of the car. The former is capable of producing 134 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque, with all of this power sent to the front wheels via its six-speed automatic transmission.Read the entire article MINI introduces its first plug-in hybrid – the new Cooper S E Countryman ALL4

Ever heard of the “Lynk & Co” automotive brand? Well, it is highly likely people haven’t. This is practically because this is new brand created by the joint venture between Swedish carmaker Volvo and Chinese parent Geely. Of course, Lynk & Co is expected to tap into the Volvo’s deep technology chest.
Lynk & Co will try to break the auto market with its first model, the Lynk & Co 01 compact crossover. Underpinned by Volvo-developed Compact Modular Architecture that also underpins the upcoming XC40, the new Lynk & Co 01 crossover measures around 178.4 inches (4.53 meters) in length, 73 inches (1.85 meters) in width and 65.1 inches (1.65 meters) in height. It also sits in wheelbase of 107.5 inches (2.73 meters), which allows the 01 crossover to boast of larger cabin space. This should sit well with the compact crossover’s main target market in China, where vehicles with ample rear legroom are usually a big hit.
Being underpinned by Volvo’s CMA means that the new Lynk & Co 01 will be powered by an array of turbocharged three- and four-cylinder engines that will serve as the core of Volvo’s new 40 series cars. These engines could be mated to a manual transmission or a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox. It is possible that Lynk & Co will offer a plug-in hybrid version of the 01 later at its life cycle.Read the entire article Geely-Volvo joint venture unveils new Lynk & Co 01 compact crossover
