Earlier this year, German automaker Opel revealed their largest SUV to date, the Grandland X as it made its debut online. The SUV, a European exclusive, comes in a sophisticated new look and shares some of its genes with the Peugeot 3008.
Having said that, the Opel has pretty impressive measurements of 14.7 feet (4.48 meters) with a cargo space of 18 cubic-feet (514 liters) to fit all your extra large luggage. That’s very close to the Peugeot’s 18.3 cubic-feet (520 liter) cargo capacity and its length of 14.5 feet (4.42 metres). With these specs, you're probably expecting a hefty price tag that comes with it. The good news is that the Opel Grandland X actually costs less than its Peugeot counterpart, with a starting price of €23,700 (£20,890) including VAT versus the €25,995 (£22,910) Peugeot.
That price comes with a 1.2 liter turbocharged gas engine that can carry out 130 horsepower (96 kilowatts) and 169 pound-feet (230 Newton-metres) of torque. If you are not keen on getting a gasoline engine, you can opt for the 1.6 liter diesel option producing 120 horsepower (88 kW), and 221 pound-feet (300 Nm) of torque for a starting price of €26,500 (£23,335). But if neither of those options are up to your liking, then that is not a problem as Opel is developing a variant that has "more power" that should be out in the market soon.Read the entire article 2018 Opel Grandland X costs less than its Peugeot 3008 counterpart
Skoda recently launched the new Karoq compact SUV as a replacement model to its now-defunct Yeti small crossover. Slotted below the newly introduced Skoda Kodiaq, the new Karoq features a design that looks further ahead in the compact SUV segment. While the new Skoda Karoq isn’t really a sporty model – whether in looks or performance – it wouldn’t be bad to re-imagine the Yeti replacement in RS and Monte Carlo versions.
In case you are having a hard time imagining how the new Skoda Karoq compact SUV would look like, you can turn to the works of automotive visual artist X-Tomi Design as reference. Known for re-imagining different versions of current vehicle models, X-Tomi Design has turned his eyes on the newly unveiled Skoda Karoq and rendered its Karoq RS and Karoq Monte Carlo variants.
The compact SUV in white is the new Karoq RS, with various exterior modifications that distinguish it as the top sporting version of the new compact SUV. There have been rumors that Skoda is really planning to create an RS version of the Karoq, which should deliver up to 300 hp of output. The most powerful Skoda Karoq in the lineup is the one served by a 2.0-liter TDI engine that delivers 187 hp (190 PS) of max output and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of peak torque.Read the entire article X-Tomi Design renders RS and Monte Carlo versions of the Skoda Karoq
In a game-changing move, Ford has revealed that it will soon produce its first ever all-electric CUV that will be built to be electric from the ground up, and it will be rolled out in 2020.
The American automaker is planning to roll out its first ever autonomous car by the year 2021, a vehicle that will be utilized for car sharing services purposes only. But before releasing the said vehicle, the Blue oval is planning to send off its pioneer all-electric, long range unit, and this will be made available to the public.
During the 2017 Consumer Electric Show in January of this year, Ford CEO Mark Field revealed a bunch of exciting news that includes a whole lot of models that will be fitted with an electric drivetrain option, the Mustang and F-150. Both of these vehicles will hopefully be made with a plug-in hybrid alternative. But the most attention-catching bit is the plan for a fully electric Compact Utility Vehicle that will run at least 300 miles.Read the entire article Ford will release first-ever all-electric CUV with over 300-mile range in 2020
The other day, we were just wondering whether the 2018 Skoda Karoq was a successor of the larger Kodiaq. But since the company said that the Yeti was discontinued for something more exciting, we thought that maybe the new compact crossover will be the one replacing it. Turns out we were right - Skoda officially announced that the 2018 Karoq is the Yeti’s successor.
After a long wait, the company is finally ready to unveil the compact crossover, as the Yeti’s replacement. Not only did it get a new name, it seems to also have been influenced by the Kodiaq’s design, albeit a mini version of it, especially at first glance.
The Czech company announced that the Karoq will be available in the second half of 2017.Read the entire article 2018 Skoda Karoq is officially the Yeti successor
Only recently, it was rumoured that BMW has been putting their time and energy into venturing and coming up with brand new niches to launch into the global automotive markets. Lately, we have observed that almost everything has been dished out from the German automaker including the Gran Tourers, Active Tourers and Gran Coupes, however they haven't released vehicles that can go head to head against the Audi Allroad or the Mercedes Benz E Class All Terrain. Audi has been releasing Allroad units that are largely influenced by the A6 Avant models ever since '99.
It was reported that back at the BMW HQ, there are new things occurring, but they are apparently planning to target Tesla and the prime market. The 3 Series GT replacement is rumoured to be an electric car, and the 6er is reviving the 8 series trademark but with a consequential price increase. So it’s predicted that the 5 Series will not come at par with the classic A6 Allroad idea.
Now, Sports utility vehicles are creating lots of buzz in the automotive industry. This is why some automakers resorted to tricking their potential customers with high-riding wagons including the Volvo V90 Cross Country and Mercedes-Benz Benz E-Class All Terrain. Now the problem is that wagons are now slowly losing their appeal with the American consumers.Read the entire article BMW 5 Series Cross Touring render revealed! Could this idea work in the US?
Everyone, meet the new presidential car. Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed the latest DS 7 Crossback as his official car during the recent inauguration. It was barely a couple of months ago since Groupe PSA introduced the new crossover but it wasn’t until the parade that the public finally saw what the new crossover looks like. Otherwise known as Distinctive Series/Different Spirit, the DS marque actually had been Citroen’s sub brand from 2009 until it became an independent brand in 2014. No matter how deeply rooted DS Cars are with Citroen models, it is worth noting that these two have very distinct qualities when it comes to manufacturing and engineering.
The presidential car certainly has more special features than any regular unit ever built by the premium car brand. Apart from the soft top roof cover, the custom designed SUV comes with a flag holder on one side. Atelier Maury meanwhile designed its Black leather interior which matches the Ink Blue exterior paint perfectly. To complete the premium look, the presidential SUV comes equipped with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels in two tone finish plus gold detailing.
Despite the lack of details about its powertrain, the French automaker assures that the presidential car has all the latest technologies similar to the upcoming production version. One of which is the highly advanced DS Active Scan Suspension with built-in camera as well as the DS Connected Pilot for autonomous driving.Read the entire article French President Emmanuel Macron rides in a custom DS 7 Crossback
Well, you guys don’t have to wait too long for its debut. And even before Thursday, a sneak peek of the compact crossover has been posted online to ease the anticipation. Though the photos are much of a tease, despite the fact that one of them is just a silhouette, and the others are still in their camouflage, we can sort of imagine how it looks like already. First of all, we can tell that it is a mini version of its big brother - like a Kodiaq built on a 75-percent scale, and both models resemble one another a lot.
The Karoq was built with slightly larger upper headlights, and the lower ones have been reshaped. Its rear end has new LED taillights that extend onto the upper area of the electric trunk lid. Like I said, it is very similar to the Kodiaq with only subtle changes.
Inside the cabin, the Karoq will be getting Skoda’s newest infotainment system in glass - like the one in the facelifted Octavia and Kodiaq. Aside from that, it will be equipped with an all-digital instrument cluster which is something new from the Czech automaker. Other details include an electric parking brake and glossy black bits, and of course, LED ambient lighting in ten different colours that customers can choose from.Read the entire article Skoda releases teaser photos of the Karoq crossover
Previously, we have read reports about the upcoming small crossover produced by the South Korean automaker Hyundai. The first official teaser revealed LED accented sexy headlights, main lamp units located down low with the taillights fitted with LED to complete the matching look. Named after a famous American location, the Hyundai Kona was recently spotted donning an undisguised look. Is the official reveal close at hand?
Although a reveal is expected to happen sometime this summer, Hyundai's soon-to-be-released Kona has been seen without any cover during a promotional video shoot in Lisbon, Portugal. By the looks of it, the new crossover is looking swanky.
From the images, we can observe some familiar design patterns but nevertheless it is one of the more captivating design coming from the South Korean automaker.Read the entire article 2018 Hyundai Kona small crossover spotted at commercial shoot in Portugal
Acura first introduced the CDX at the 2016 Auto China, and today it is being sold exclusively across their showrooms in China. But recent news from all over the web is saying that Acura is considering bringing the CDX to the United States.
What’s with the change of heart? John Ikeda, Vice President and General Manager of Acura US told Wards Auto in an interview (during a ’18 TLX media event) that the CDX seems like “a model that interests a lot of our people, so we have our R&D guys looking into the possibility”. He then added that it won’t be that simple as the CDX was designed especially for the Chinese market and this may not pass the United States regulatory standards. So it isn’t shipping that may cause problems but more of the regulatory requirements. However, this matter is currently under discussion.
The CDX is a small luxury CUV based on the Honda HR-V. Under the hood, the CDX has a turbocharged 1.5 liter four cylinder engine (the same engine found in a Civic and the CR-V) that produces 180 horsepower and 177 pound feet of torque, powered by an eight speed dual clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.Read the entire article Acura CDX might enter the US market
Hyundai Kona, the upcoming subcompact SUV, is scheduled to be launched this summer. With Kona's nearing debut still a few months away, Hyundai Motor Company is now revealing more tidbits of its new member. Previously we only saw a close-up of a headlight but now the latest teaser revealed a more detailed face of Kona that is surrounded by shadows.
It seems that all future releases of the South Korean car manufacturer will bear a bolder new design, as seen with the new Accent and the "progressive appearance" of the Kona. Moreover, both vehicles also exhibit the company's new Cascading Grille. The front fascia's design is highly similar to the Jeep Cherokee's twin-headlamp style, with the top LED strips daytime running lights fitted above the lower LED headlights.Read the entire article Hyundai hits us with more teasers of the Kona subcompact SUV
As the loveable 2nd-generation Skoda Yeti will be possibly geared towards an apparent retirement, Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has recently confirmed that a new member will join the ranks of its predecessors, a Tiguan-related medium SUV that will be known as the Skoda Karoq. The all new crossover will have its global debut on May 18 this year in Stockholm, and sales in Europe will begin in the latter part of this year.
Rumors were indeed true, as Skoda will be saying goodbye to the its esteemed Yeti. The new name is indeed catchy, with the moniker based on the same language that also gave us the Kodiaq- the Aluttiq folks, who are indigenous tribes hailing from the Kodiak Island archipelago situated off the southern coast of Alaska. The Skoda's Kodiaq is named for the bear that is known as the Kodiak in English, with the q being substituted to serve as a tribute to the Alutiiq, where they name the bear as Taquka'aq. Morevoer the name Karoq is drawn from the words "Kaa'raq" which means car, and "Ruq" which means an arrow.
As the sibling model of the Volkswagen Tiguan and SEAT Ateca, the all new Skoda model will have the group's dynamic MBQ platform and will be geared with 2 gasoline and 3 diesel engines that will produce 115 hp (85 kW) and 190 hp (140 kW). The brand new 1.5 L TSI unit with cylinder deactivation akin to the Golf model improvement will also be provided, and the 190 hp 2.0 L diesel will be set as the standard with the all-wheel drive and 7 speed DSG. Moreover, the 5 seat Karoq will have a front-wheel drive system identical to its 2 siblings, however the higher specs variants will be the only models to be equipped with AWD. The 6 speed DSG transmissions and manual will also be offered.Read the entire article Skoda Yeti successor announced, meet the Karoq!
The new and improved Opel Grandland X is out, and this large SUV is something the European market did not know they would need. Now measuring at 14.7 feet (4.48 meters) in length, the three-row Grandland X fits five passengers comfortably and has a total cargo capacity of 18 cubic-feet (514 liters). The question now is if there will be a performance variant.
X-Tomi Design artists have come up with an OPC (Opel Performance Center) variant for the Grandland X SUV - something a lot of us wouldn’t expect. And it looks pretty good. You might remember OPC from the Astra to the Insignia. It has a bolder face with its distinctive grille and new vents. It comes with a signature OPC-designed wheels wrapped with metal sheet. Overall, the body has been lowered significantly. Equipped with the new Adaptive Forward Lighting LED headlamps, the SUV ensures a more comfortable drive in the dark with brighter driving light and cornering light.
The Grandland X stands for adventure, independence, and abundance - with technology that makes it safe and fun. Karl Thomas Neumann, Opel CEO says that they will ensure that the SUV gets an “I want it” factor.Read the entire article New Opel Grandland X SUV gets the OPC treatment
Honda will be displaying the electrically assisted CUV in their showrooms later this year. This has been confirmed in China at least. Fresh from its debut at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, the latest hybrid CR-V will soon go on sale in Asia’s fastest growing market for hybrid vehicles.
While the engineering for the China-bound CR-V Hybrid has already been finalized, it only makes sense that Honda would be considering the US as its next important step. In the US, the Honda Accord is in fact using the same powertrain found on the newly electrified crossover.
Honda however hasn't disclosed the exact details for the CR-V hybrid’s powertrain while on its premiere. If the CRV’s hybrid specs are indeed the same as those on the Accord, we can therefore expect the electrified crossover to be running on a 143hp (107kW), 129 lb-ft (175Nm) of torque, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This will come equipped with a 1.3kWh lithium ion battery pack with a total power of 212hp (158kW) to match.Read the entire article Honda unveils the CR-V Hybrid in China, may also come to the United States
Toyota hopes to target a new market with a new crossover concept dubbed as the Toyota FT-4X. The company says that this car is perfect for those who love to be outdoors, but not necessarily hardcore off-roaders.
The FT-4X, at first glance would remind you of the FJ cruiser, with their similar body type and paint job, except this one has more utilitarian touches. This was designed by the people behind Toyota’s Calty Design Research center, with inspirations from Land Cruiser’s FJ40 and pickups - with the aim to appeal to people with a growing urge to escape.
Future Toyota Four-Wheel Drive Crossover is what FT-4X really stands for. The designers think of this concept as a hybrid, considering the fact that it is small enough to fit an urban environment. At the same time, it has the ability to go off-road for an off the pavement drive. During the development phase, the FT-4X was guided by a philosophy of “rugged charm”. Five attributes were in mind: design simplicity, inherent capability, durability, lineage, and charm, which the FT-4X does embody.Read the entire article Toyota FT-4X Concept is one functional crossover
German carmaker Opel – now a part of the PSA Group – is introducing its newest X model that will compete in the compact class (C-segment). The new 2018 Opel Grandland X marks another installment of the carmaker’s “7 in 17” product offensive this year.
The introduction of the new Opel Grandland X follows the official reveal of the Opel Crossland X at the Geneva Motor Motor Show in March. It is the third member of the carmaker’s Opel X family, next to Crossland X and Mokka X. However, since it competes in the C-segment, it is around 20 centimeters longer than the Crossland X and Mokka X. Opel is bound to officially reveal the Grandland X at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017. Despite revealing the looks and features of the Grandland X, Opel has yet to unfurl complete details of the compact utility vehicle, and it intends to do that in Frankfurt, Germany.
The positioning of the new Opel Grandland X actually makes it a real rival to the Peugeot 3008. Interestingly, the Opel Grandland X shares its underpinnings with the Peugeot 3008, thanks mainly to a collaboration agreement signed between Opel and the PSA Group in 2012. Nonetheless, the Opel Grandland X looks nothing like the Peugeot 3008. It is also laden with a wide array of new features and equipment that you would expect from a new Opel offering.Read the entire article Newest member of Opel X family is introduced – the Grandland X compact SUV
Two years after Citroën revealed the Aircross Concept at the 2015 Auto Shanghai in China, the production model will then be introduced at the same event this week. Love it or hate it, the C5 Aircross will be having the same eccentric exterior just like the C4 Cactus, except the Aircross will be having a much larger body measuring at 4.5 meters long, 1.84 meters wide, and 1.67 meters tall.
Citroën released a couple of videos online to put emphasis on the “Progressive Hydraulic Cushions” as this is one of the highlights of the SUV - in fact, the all-new suspension benefits from this.
Both damping quality and ride comfort have both been improved with this technology. The two hydraulic stops are for rebound and compression, creating a two-step suspension. Reports say that no less than 20 patents were registered during the development of the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions.Read the entire article 2017 Citroen C5 Aircross is revealed with an eccentric new look
Volkswagen gives us a preview of what may be our future cars in the next decade or two. Their latest concept, the I.D. Crozz, is an electric crossover that the automaker unveiled after introducing the hatchback and minivan versions of the I.D.
From the looks of it, the car has a minimalistic design. The curves and creases of the body paired with sleek headlights and illuminated VW badges add to its futuristic design. A pair of all-LED taillights that extend to the rear fenders then give it a unique touch.
The engineers are really focusing on autonomous driving. When “I.D. Pilot” mode is activated, the computers will analyze everything in the car. The adaptive LED headlights will be activated, along with the interior and exterior ambient lighting. The fully autonomous mode will even retract the steering wheel into the dashboard for more cabin space.Read the entire article VW reveals an I.D. Crozz Concept which looks pretty cool
Earlier this year, Mitsubishi introduced the Outlander Sport at the Chicago Auto Show with what they called a “special edition”; but wasn’t that successful in the “special” part. Now, for 2017 New York Auto Show, the Japanese automaker re-introduces the 2018 model year by polishing it yet again. Let’s see what changed over the weeks after the Chicago Auto Show.

For the sake of those who want to know more about the changes, we will be enumerating them one by one.Read the entire article 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport features minute enhancements
Devoted Hyundai followers, say hello to the new Hyundai subcompact crossover from the South Korean automaker that will soon grace the roads. The first official teaser is now out in public and if you think that it closely resembles a new Jeep Cherokee, you’re not alone. This new sub-compact will come by the name of "Kona" -- sounds catchy, right?
In keeping with Hyundai's true blue tradition, the 2018 Kona is named after a known American location. We bet that "Kona" is somewhat familiar to many folks. The Kona 2018 will be considered as Hyundai's smallest crossover in the Old Continent to date. Well, Hyundai decided to give the new B-SUV the label "Kona" after the Hawaii's symbolic Big Island go-to destination, largely reflective of the island's active image and one-of-a-kind lifestyle.
Kona is also known as the Ironman World Championship homestead, an event held every October where the world's greatest course triathletes attempt to outdo each other in what is considered as the world's hardest one-day event- including a 3.8km swim, 180km ride and a mind boggling 42.2 km run. The all new B-SUV will be the 4th member of the brand's SUV line-up in Europe comprising of the Tucson, Santa Fe and Grand Santa Fe. This subcompact crossover acquires its blueprint from the Intrado concept which was previewed back in the year 2014.Read the entire article Hyundai drops first teaser for 2018 Kona subcompact crossover

The high-performing 2018 BMW X3 (G01) M40i variant will also be available at U.S. dealerships around October this year.
Cruising on the ever dynamic CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, the third-gen of the highly popular X3 Sports Activity Vehicle, X3 codenamed "G01" is made bigger, lighter and more solid compared to the recent model. The interior and trunk space are also upgraded with increased capacity and area and 220 lbs (100 kilograms) lesser curb density compared to the current X3. A redesigned seating system is also offered to assure higher variability paired with increased comfort. Although the interior and exterior design will involve a metamorphic approach, under the hood is where the magic happens.
A wide array of diesel and gasoline choices will be made accessible but it depends on the market, not to mention the M40i and M40d options. The gas-fueled automobile will be sold in the United States around the latter part of the year, particularly around October. But so far, BMW hasn’t released pricing details. The BMW X3 M40i will be powered with a tweaked version of BMW's 3.0 liter turbocharged variant.Read the entire article 2018 BMW X3 (G01) M40i will arrive on US shores in October
