BMW will be on the lookout starting now, as its "i" division will be going head to head with rivals in the coming days. According to a report from Autocar, Mercedes-Benz will soon bring some heat as it is geared to unveil an all new electric hatch concept at this year's Frankfurt auto show.
At the last year's Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz dropped hints about its newly conceived "EQ" sub-brand with a namesake concept that will take the shape of a pure electric crossover. The primary EQ model called the EQ C SUV was revealed in concept camouflage as a part of a public debut for the German automaker's electric car EQ sub brand.
For 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the German automaker is working on the next concept that will not feature a combustion engine. And at this time, it will be a hatchback to represent the German automaker's purpose of rolling out a solid threat for the likes of the BMW i3 and Volkswagen's production variant of the I.D. concept. Autocar also further reported that the said hatch will be considered Mercedes' main model for the EQ lineup, which will have no less than 10 variants by the middle of the next decade.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz to reveal electric hatchback EQ concept at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
The Jaguar I-Pace has been getting a lot of attention since the concept made its debut at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. And just a few months following its debut, it went all the way to Geneva with a new wardrobe. Along the change of look was a number of teasers released by the company.
Is this some kind of a clue that the I-Pace is entering production? Well, according to rumours lately, a production model of the electric SUV is scheduled to attend the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this autumn. Now, who isn’t excited for that?
According to Ian Callum, Design Chief of Jaguar, the production model should retain 80 percent of the concept’s styling and design. So we should expect minimal changes in terms of the look of the car. Furthermore, the near production model shows a sloped rear and an aggressive fascia similar to the concept we saw in some of the spy shots.Read the entire article 2018 Jaguar I-Pace could debut in Frankfurt
The Frankfurt Motor Show is considered as one of the major auto shows, not just in Europe, but also in the world. Despite being one of the biggest events in the auto industry, the Frankfurt Motor Show will be missing at least nine major auto brands when it opens its latest edition in September 2017.
All German brands – volume or premium marques – are expected to be on full force on what is considered as one of the major shows in their home country. Sadly, though, two of PSA Group’s brands won’t take part in the 2017 edition of the show. While PSA Group has just reached an agreement to acquire German brand Opel – and its twin Vauxhall marque -- from General Motors, it has decided not to field any vehicles from its Peugeot and DS brands. However, PSA Group’s Citroen brand will be going to Frankfurt in September, since the marque is supporting a product launch, according to a spokesman from the French manufacturer.
Also skipping the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show are three brands from Italian-American carmaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Italian brands Fiat and Alfa Romeo as well as American brand Jeep won’t show their wares at Frankfurt this year.Read the entire article Fiat, PSA, Infiniti and Nissan will skip the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
It appears there won’t be a long wait before we get to see Mercedes-AMG’s hypercar – the Mercedes-AMG Project One. This is because the Formula One-powered road car will be revealed in its near-complete form at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September as part of AMG’s 50th anniversary celebration.
This is what Mercedes-AMG chief executive Tobias Moers disclosed to Motor1 at the sidelines of the 2017 North American International Auto Show (known to many as the Detroit Auto Show). To date, all that has been revealed to the public was the hypercar’s new name as well as its powertrain, which is inspired by Formula One. More specifically, Formula One was more than just an inspiration, since the powertrain that will serve as the heart of the AMG Project One – its official designation – is a powered-down version of the technology used in its W07 Hybrid race car.
In September last year, Mercedes-AMG confirmed that a hypercar was under development, with an output that would reach four digits. This meant that that this new hypercar – bearing an internal codename of R50 – would be delivering at least 1,000 hp, which is the power level of the Mercedes-AMG’s championship-winning W07 racer in qualifying mode at Formula. As for the Project One hypercar, the power output could be more.Read the entire article Mercedes-AMG to officially unveil Project One hypercar at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
Are auto shows becoming more irrelevant in this digital age? If you ask the marketing director of French carmaker Peugeot, Guillaume Couzy, the answer could be yes. This comes as Couzy disclosed that the Peugeot would not be taking part in the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled for September next year. To note, Peugeot participated in the previous edition of the auto show, unveiling several remarkable vehicles in the process.
Missing an auto show could mean loss of several opportunities for a carmaker. Carmakers are usually selective in which auto shows they would want to take part in. Auto shows serve as good marketing tools to introduce upcoming and new products as well as to excite customers about future and possible offerings. Thus, if a European carmaker wants to market a certain SUV in the United States, it could unveil its new vehicle in the New York Auto Show or in the Detroit Motor Show.
Likewise, if a Japanese carmaker wants to make it big in Germany or France, it could showcase its offerings in the auto shows in Frankfurt or Paris. Automotive press and journalists attending these events offer wide coverage and reach. Thus, missing an important auto event like the Frankfurt Auto Show could result to lesser coverage, and ultimately lower sales.Read the entire article Peugeot to skip 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show to focus on digital marketing
