Peugeot re-enters pickup market with an all-new

The primary suggestion of a 4x4 ute from French company Peugeot was first revealed in 2016. Fifteen months later, the production version is launched. Now, Peugeot is not shying away from keeping it simple with its newest member of the family, a pickup truck called simply and appropriately the "Pick Up".

The French marque added a brand new pickup to their line-up after a 3-year break following the axing of the 207-based Hoggar. The coupe utility was produced for South American market, but the brand new "Pick Up" will be produced exclusively for the African Market and will basically be the French company's variant of the Zhengzhou Nissan Auto (ZNA) Rich New.

The new model is the Dongfeng-produced pickup truck closely based on a 1st-gen Frontier/Navara (D22) previously unveiled in the year 1997. The latest Pick-Up's origin is easily spotted, as the modifications are restricted to the altered grille and slightly enhanced graphics of both the headlights and the taillights.

Project Viper by East Coast Defenders turns your dream Land Rover Defender into reality

For the previous years, East Coast Defender has been dishing out irresistible Land Rover Defender set-ups. It does seem like the company has been stocking up on ideas since the SUV was introduced to the automotive world in 1948. ECD has gifted us with beauties like the Corvette-powered Project XIII and the Beast. Only recently, it has conceived a Defender so potent that the company made a whole new division only for it. The Project Viper provides the common V8 upgrade and up to date tech, but is also geared to swallow obstacles with a single bite while slithering its way in and out of distant roads.

With a cool name like Project Viper, one is probably imagining a low and sinister build paired with a snake badge and a robust V10 engine. But we hate to burst your bubble as we are not talking about the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, instead we will set our sights on a macho build as ECD combined a Chevrolet LS3 V8 with a revolutionary off-roader that’s highly based its design and inspiration from the Land Rover Defender.

The vehicle in question is dubbed the "Project Viper", and is the brainchild of Ultimate Vehicle Concept division of East Coast Defenders, a niche builder located in Kissimmee, Florida that creates custom-built Land Rover Defenders. In this case, the American company built from the ground up the potent sports-utility vehicle that is not hindered by creative blocks or finance.

X-Tomi Design renders BMW 8 Series as Gran Coupe, shooting brake, pickup truck

The automotive community is now anticipating what BMW will do next after it unveiled the Concept 8 Series a few days ago at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy as a preview of the 8 Series production model anticipated to arrive in 2018.

The resurrection of the notable badge, which is slated for next year, will have the 2-door coupe variant heading up the lineup. Nevertheless, more body styles will later join the range in the future. According to different sources, a Convertible and a Gran Coupe will see the daylight soon. But will a shooting brake be included?

It was an ecstatic few days when the German automaker unveiled the adorable 8 Series concept and afterwards someone skilled with Photoshop removed its roof to showcase an imagined convertible, one that might actually occur in real life. The person in question is now delving into the idea of other hypothetical derivatives for the sophisticated coupe by envisioning a Gran Coupe model that is made with an unexpected shooting brake and an unanticipated pickup truck. After the 8 Series concept was revealed, renderers just couldn’t resist the urge to come up with their various examples of the said concept.

2018 Shelby F-150 Super Snake arrives with impressive design and power

The wait for the Mustang’s GT-based Super Snake concept to be released is finally over. Shelby had recently collaborated with Ford Performance and Borla to come up with something that will definitely interest truck enthusiasts. The F-150 gets a Super Snake treatment that makes it even more hardcore than the already intimidating Raptor. And what makes it even more special is that the company is only building 150 examples.

Let’s begin with performance. The F-150 Super Snake will be equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that can carry out a whopping 750 horsepower (600 kilowatts). This engine will be paired with a two-wheel or a four-wheel drive configuration depending on the customer’s preference.

In terms of design, the Super Snake comes with a more aggressive body from the redesigned hood to the new bumpers. The tonneau cover and the extra spoilers are all custom-made. To make it even more distinct than a regular F-150, the special edition gets a set of 22-inch chrome wheels, and racing stripes that stretch from the hood, the roof, all the way to the rear of the truck, contrasting its blue exterior paint job – in typical Shelby fashion. The easiest way to spot one of these examples would be through the Super Snake badging that you’ll find on the front grille, and also in the interior.

And so it goes, Ford is not at all closing its doors to an all-electric F-150 pickup. The American manufacturer initially laid out its plans for an F-150 hybrid earlier this year and promises to come out with a vehicle with outstanding payload and towing capacity.

Although a hybrid makes better sense, Ford CTO Raj Nair said he isn’t ruling out the possibility of an electric version of the F150. Also during his recent interview with Yahoo, Nair further stated how much they consider electrification as a “bonus”. Therefore, it is an advantage since it doubles as a “power generating source” on a hybrid, he said.

Earlier reports claim that Ford is looking to introduce a hybridized F-150 pickup by 2020. If so, this hybrid pickup would still largely depend on gasoline since it doesn’t come with a plugin powertrain to start with. Certainly, it would be a game changer if Ford pushes for a pure battery powered version of the F-150. As we already know, this eco-friendly technology provides great benefit for trucks due to the massive amount of torque coming from electric powertrains.

Step aside Chevy Colorado ZR2, off-roading has now been taken to the next level with the unveiling of converted heavy-duty off roaders named the “MegaRaptor” and “SuperRaptor”. We think it’s awesome that it sounds like a character from a Japanese science fiction movie or Transformers.

We’ve seen the 2017 Ford-150 Raptor, and some of us would consider that model a monster truck, with its 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 and 450 horsepower. However, for some, that still isn’t enough of a monster - which is why the Mega- and SuperRaptors are here.

Jeremy Dixon of F250R, based in Tucson, Arizona is the man who thought of this insane but enviable plan. He says that the custom bodywork can be done on any 2005 - 2016 F-250s pickup trucks. His team gave 46 inch tires to the MegaRaptor and 40 inch tires for the SuperRaptor. According to Drive, that’s the primary difference between the two models.

Last week, Nissan performance brand, Nismo, disclosed to the public its incoming road car expansion strategy that will be done to replicate the success that was met by the BMW M long ago. The Japanese automaker will embark on a plan that will be able to duplicate the number of units that will bear the Nismo performance badge, says Takao Katagiri, CEO of Nissan Motorsports International Co- the Nissan subsidiary overseeing Nismo.

The Nismo line-up has already sold 15,000 vehicles under its belt, and the Japanese automaker is hoping to increase their releases in the coming years. The planned expansion would involve fresh body types aside from their current roundabout of sports cars and SUVs, along with trucks like the Nissan Titan, crossovers and not forgetting the minivans. It will also involve the chain of Nismo dealership and driving academies found in different U.S. cities.

So far, the Japanese automaker has only released 4 vehicles under the Nismo brand in the US, including the loveable GT-R, 370Z, Juke and the newly rolled out Sentra, as well as the other units that include the Patrol SUV and Note hatchbacks that are made available outside the U.S. territory. Nissan is aiming to boost Nismo sales by about 100,000 units by the early 2020s, which is when we’re expected to welcome the line-up of new Nismo releases including the Maxima Nismo, Rogue Nismo and Titan Nismo (if the circulating reports are true).

Tesla Motors is still shocking the world with its electric vehicles built with performances are at par or even better than their conventionally powered rivals. However, it turned out that Tesla is planning to go beyond electric sedans and SUVs. As Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk announced it would soon unveil the carmaker’s first semi-truck and pickup truck.

Through a post in Twitter, Musk revealed that the carmaker is unveiling the new Tesla Semi truck in September this year. He added that Tesla’s development team did an amazing job in creating this new semi truck, which he described as on a “seriously next level.” As far as we know, Musk isn’t joking. Of course, “seriously next level” could mean that it could be entirely different from the semi-trucks we know, thereby possible changing the game according to Tesla’s own definition.

To note, Musk tweeted in 2016 that Tesla’s Jerome Guillen was already test-driving the carmaker’s new semi truck. He also noted that Guillen was responsible for leading Daimler’s most successful semi-truck program. In addition, Musk said during the unveiling of Master Plan Part Deux last summer that Tesla is already in the early stages of development of its new heavy-duty trucks and high passenger-density urban transport. By then, he announced that these units would be ready to be unfurled this year. Now, Musk is staying true to his words and confirmed that Tesla is indeed unveiling a new semi-truck this September.

Move over Hot wheels! Toyota and Tonka have worked together in creating a full-sized toy truck for grownups. At the very least, the Hilux Tonka Concept is a dream come true for those who grew up playing the rock climber in their own backyards.

The concept was created in celebration of Toyota’s 80th anniversary as well as Tonka’s 70th year in the market. Only last year, the Toyota HiLux has been touted as Australia’s best-selling vehicle. Given there are about 920,000 examples sold since its initial launch gives them another reason to celebrate. In any case, Toyota has reached over 16 million sales around the world with this pickup alone. This breakthrough has nonetheless brought Toyota Australia to do the majority of concept design, assembly and testing for the Tonka Hilux.

In a recent press release, Nicolas Hogios the chief for product design mentions how the HiLux Tonka concept can do more than what the SR5 double-cab pickup truck has been capable of all these years. To that end, the American toy producer and the Japanese brand combined each of their reputable characteristics to build such an amazing concept design.

A new body configuration will be added to Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD large pickup trucks starting in the 2017 model year. The Japanese carmaker announced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that its Crew Cab and Single Cab body configurations for the Titan and Titan XD are now joined by the new King Cab body.

With the announcement, Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD lineup is now available in three cabs and three bed length configurations. Both the Titan King Cab and Titan XD King Cab are available in either 4x4 and 4x2 drive. Three grade levels -- S, SV and PRO-4X – are also offered.

The King Cab configuration is basically a cross between the Crew Cab and Single Cab. Its cabin is smaller than on the Crew Cab but is still larger than the Single Cab. Moreover, the King Cab still offers seating for rear passengers, just like the Crew Cab. According to Nissan, the King Cab version of the half-ton Titan and the three-quarter ton Titan XD will be able to accommodate up to six occupants – three in the somewhat cramp rear cabin and another three on the front row. The front row usually seats two – the driver and a passenger.

A cross between the new Durango SRT and a Dakota pickup is clearly not a bad idea. But Chrysler has stopped producing the Dodge Dakota a long time ago. In fact, we haven’t seen the company participate in the mid-size pickup category for more than 6 years.

If only Chrysler comes out with a new replacement for the famous utility wagon, it would be awesome if it ends up with the same styling cues like the one on the new SUV. We bet this is what X-Tomi Design had in mind when it drew a speculative rendering of the supposed Dodge Durango SRT hauler truck.

It’s plain to see that the artist had placed a pickup bed on the latest SUV’s body. But the Durango is actually based on the Dodge Dakota pickup right from the very start. While nowadays it is bigger and seems to be bearing some kind of a “crossover styling cues”, most of the idea is still taken from the original cargo truck. Let’s put it this way, if Chrysler had done the exact same thing, this is how the Durango is going to look like if it comes with an open bed.

The Ram 1500 pickup truck and its heavy duty siblings Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 are all hardworking mobile machines. However, this doesn’t mean they can’t be dressed up for the prom. In fact, Ram is now showing the stylish sides of these hardworking pickup trucks at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.

Likewise, the badges on the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport limited edition are also specified in black. Meanwhile, the interior of the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport limited edition complements the color scheme on the exterior.

To show how customers could spice up the meaningful character of the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X, the Japanese carmaker – through its Nissan Motorsports division -- is bringing the pickup truck to the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. Have you seen a shooting brake (wagon) that could be transformed into a pickup, and vice-versa? Well, if you have been to Australia or to New Zealand, it is high likely that you have seen the so-called “ute,” which is basically a passenger car with an integrated cargo bed. In other words, an ute is a low-lying two-door coupe pickup.

Now, exterior designer Valentin Fuchs and visualization designer Pierre Joveneaux – both design interns at Volkswagen – have posted their own take of the ute – the VW Varok. Designed for the Australian market, the VW Varok is an innovative ute concept that could be used either as a three-passenger high-utility low-lying pickup or as a five-passenger shooting brake with ample space for some cargo. With this capability, the VW Varok concept should be a no-compromise ute boasting of everyday utility.

Fuchs and Joveneaux posted their work on Behance, an online platform that allows creative professionals across different industries and companies to showcase as well as discover creative work. Fuchs remarked that the goal of the Varok project was to imagine how the German carmaker could enter in the Australian market with an ute vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has yet to officially unveil the production version of its X-Class luxury pickup truck, but quite a number of interested customers are asking the German carmaker whether it would be possible to place an order. But if you are living in the United Kingdom, you could now reserve a new X-Class pickup premium truck from Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes-Benz Vans UK has now opened the reservations book for the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class, thanks to the “phenomenally early demand” for the premium pickup truck. This means that potential UK customers would just need to shell out some cash to have their names listed on the reservation list for the UK-spec Mercedes X-Class. Mercedes Vans UK has pegged the reservation fee at around £1,000 (more or less $1,248 or €1,162). When Mercedes finally and officially launches the sale of the X-Class, those who have their names on the list will be first to order the premium pickup truck.

However, since this is just a reservation list for the X-Class, UK customers who think that the premium pickup truck isn’t worth their money could back out from the roll. Of course, they wouldn’t have to worry about their reservation money since Mercedes Vans UK is prepared to refund the entire amount should they decide to withdraw from owning the UK-spec plush pickup truck.

Many people prefer pickup trucks for a variety of reasons, even though they are more of a fuel guzzler than cars. These reasons include practicality, power, off-road capability and solidity. However, if there is something that you would find on cars but might not on trucks, it is the possibility of open-top driving.

But what if you could have convertible version of a pickup truck? That would be very nice. If you’re one of those raring to drive a convertible pickup truck, you belong to a market niche that remains untapped until now. However, a specialized company – named Newport Convertible Engineering (NCE) – has been trying to cater to customized convertible since 1983. Just recently, NCE unveiled its latest convertible transformation project – a Ford F-150 Convertible.

No, NCE’s Ford F-150 Convertible is not a visual rendering. Nowadays, a number of skillful visual artists have managed to create renderings of possible yet non-existent versions of different vehicles. But what has been created remains on the software or on the paper and no actual vehicle is made. But in case of NCE, it has actually created a real-world Ford F-150 Convertible.

As you probably have noticed, the Ram 1500 Rebel is the meaner and more aggressive version of the Ram 1500. But there is a version of the Ram 1500 Rebel that could make the standard Ram 1500 look angelic – the Black Edition. Of course, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition isn’t available yet at your nearest dealership as it is was just unveiled formally at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (also known to many as Detroit Auto Show).

Basically, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is a more intense version of the mean-looking Ram 1500. There are no improvements or enhancements made on the power levels of this badass pickup truck. It is just that its looks more aggressive both on the exterior and the interior. Just like any Ram 1500 Rebel, the Black Edition comes with a new front grille design – distinctly differently from a typical Ram 1500 – with a prominent billet silver “RAM” letter badge.

Its rear end comes with the “RAM” stamped tailgate, a rear bumper with flared cutouts around the dual chrome-tipped tailpipes, and taillights with black bezels. The off-road capability of the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is highlighted by its 33-inch all-terrain tires, factory lift, skid plates, tow hooks and Bilstein shocks. It also features an exclusive air suspension that allows it to boast of a higher ride.

We are now several days into 2017, and with 2016 just ended, figures for total vehicle sales are now out. Now, one question remains. Who’s the king of sales among all vehicles in the United States in 2016?

No, it’s not the Toyota Camry. While the Camry remains as the best-selling car in the US despite suffering a 9.5-percent drop in annual sales, it doesn’t dominate the overall US vehicle sales. In fact, sales of the Camry are not even half of the overall volume for the Ford F-Series in 2016.

Yes, the Ford F-Series is still selling the most vehicles in the USsomething it has been doing for 35 years in a row. In addition, the Ford F-Series is the #1 truck in terms of sales in the US for a consecutive 40 years. For the record, the sales figures for the Ford F-Series include the F-150 family (like the F-150 Raptor) and the F-Series Super Duty family (including the F-250, F-350 and F-450). However, Ford’s F-650 and the F-750 aren’t counted because they are considered heavy trucks.

More capable, smarter, and tougher, these are the three words that best describe the all-new 2018 Ford F-150 Pickup from Ford. This latest offering will become a member of the F-Series truck family, long considered as the best-selling vehicle for a total of 35 years and the best-selling truck in the U.S. for 40 years straight.

It was three years ago when the company revealed the first generation of this model. It had fully utilized the military-grade high-strength aluminum alloy for the body. Now the new model is fitted with better engines and sports a new style for both the front and the rear. It even has a number of innovative technologies equipped like the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.

Aside from capability, the 2018 F-150 makes good on the Built Ford Tough commitment through a good use of different advanced materials that not only prevent corrosion but also make it more durable. The use of high-strength steel for the boxed ladder frame and the same aluminum alloy of the first generation ensure that the F-150 is lightweight and truly capable.
