A new body configuration will be added to Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD large pickup trucks starting in the 2017 model year. The Japanese carmaker announced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that its Crew Cab and Single Cab body configurations for the Titan and Titan XD are now joined by the new King Cab body.
With the announcement, Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD lineup is now available in three cabs and three bed length configurations. Both the Titan King Cab and Titan XD King Cab are available in either 4x4 and 4x2 drive. Three grade levels -- S, SV and PRO-4X – are also offered.
The King Cab configuration is basically a cross between the Crew Cab and Single Cab. Its cabin is smaller than on the Crew Cab but is still larger than the Single Cab. Moreover, the King Cab still offers seating for rear passengers, just like the Crew Cab. According to Nissan, the King Cab version of the half-ton Titan and the three-quarter ton Titan XD will be able to accommodate up to six occupants – three in the somewhat cramp rear cabin and another three on the front row. The front row usually seats two – the driver and a passenger.Read the entire article Nissan adds King Cab body style to its 2017 Titan and Titan XD large pickup truck lineup
A cross between the new Durango SRT and a Dakota pickup is clearly not a bad idea. But Chrysler has stopped producing the Dodge Dakota a long time ago. In fact, we haven’t seen the company participate in the mid-size pickup category for more than 6 years.
If only Chrysler comes out with a new replacement for the famous utility wagon, it would be awesome if it ends up with the same styling cues like the one on the new SUV. We bet this is what X-Tomi Design had in mind when it drew a speculative rendering of the supposed Dodge Durango SRT hauler truck.
It’s plain to see that the artist had placed a pickup bed on the latest SUV’s body. But the Durango is actually based on the Dodge Dakota pickup right from the very start. While nowadays it is bigger and seems to be bearing some kind of a “crossover styling cues”, most of the idea is still taken from the original cargo truck. Let’s put it this way, if Chrysler had done the exact same thing, this is how the Durango is going to look like if it comes with an open bed.Read the entire article X-Tomi renders a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT pickup truck

Likewise, the badges on the 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport limited edition are also specified in black. As it is, the new Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck is already a mean machine ready to take on anything on the road or even off it. But of course, a customer could always make the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X pickup truck much meaner and more full of character – by availing of Nissan Genuine Parts and Accessories as well as aftermarket components.
To show how customers could spice up the meaningful character of the Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X, the Japanese carmaker – through its Nissan Motorsports division -- is bringing the pickup truck to the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. Have you seen a shooting brake (wagon) that could be transformed into a pickup, and vice-versa? Well, if you have been to Australia or to New Zealand, it is high likely that you have seen the so-called “ute,” which is basically a passenger car with an integrated cargo bed. In other words, an ute is a low-lying two-door coupe pickup.
Now, exterior designer Valentin Fuchs and visualization designer Pierre Joveneaux – both design interns at Volkswagen – have posted their own take of the ute – the VW Varok. Designed for the Australian market, the VW Varok is an innovative ute concept that could be used either as a three-passenger high-utility low-lying pickup or as a five-passenger shooting brake with ample space for some cargo. With this capability, the VW Varok concept should be a no-compromise ute boasting of everyday utility.
Fuchs and Joveneaux posted their work on Behance, an online platform that allows creative professionals across different industries and companies to showcase as well as discover creative work. Fuchs remarked that the goal of the Varok project was to imagine how the German carmaker could enter in the Australian market with an ute vehicle.Read the entire article Design interns create revolutionary VW Varok coupe-pickup concept
Mercedes-Benz Vans has yet to officially unveil the production version of its X-Class luxury pickup truck, but quite a number of interested customers are asking the German carmaker whether it would be possible to place an order. But if you are living in the United Kingdom, you could now reserve a new X-Class pickup premium truck from Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz Vans UK has now opened the reservations book for the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class, thanks to the “phenomenally early demand” for the premium pickup truck. This means that potential UK customers would just need to shell out some cash to have their names listed on the reservation list for the UK-spec Mercedes X-Class. Mercedes Vans UK has pegged the reservation fee at around £1,000 (more or less $1,248 or €1,162). When Mercedes finally and officially launches the sale of the X-Class, those who have their names on the list will be first to order the premium pickup truck.
However, since this is just a reservation list for the X-Class, UK customers who think that the premium pickup truck isn’t worth their money could back out from the roll. Of course, they wouldn’t have to worry about their reservation money since Mercedes Vans UK is prepared to refund the entire amount should they decide to withdraw from owning the UK-spec plush pickup truck.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz Vans UK now accepting reservations for the new X-Class premium pickup truck
Many people prefer pickup trucks for a variety of reasons, even though they are more of a fuel guzzler than cars. These reasons include practicality, power, off-road capability and solidity. However, if there is something that you would find on cars but might not on trucks, it is the possibility of open-top driving.
But what if you could have convertible version of a pickup truck? That would be very nice. If you’re one of those raring to drive a convertible pickup truck, you belong to a market niche that remains untapped until now. However, a specialized company – named Newport Convertible Engineering (NCE) – has been trying to cater to customized convertible since 1983. Just recently, NCE unveiled its latest convertible transformation project – a Ford F-150 Convertible.
No, NCE’s Ford F-150 Convertible is not a visual rendering. Nowadays, a number of skillful visual artists have managed to create renderings of possible yet non-existent versions of different vehicles. But what has been created remains on the software or on the paper and no actual vehicle is made. But in case of NCE, it has actually created a real-world Ford F-150 Convertible.Read the entire article Newport Convertible Engineering creates soft-top version of Ford F-150
As you probably have noticed, the Ram 1500 Rebel is the meaner and more aggressive version of the Ram 1500. But there is a version of the Ram 1500 Rebel that could make the standard Ram 1500 look angelic – the Black Edition. Of course, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition isn’t available yet at your nearest dealership as it is was just unveiled formally at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (also known to many as Detroit Auto Show).
Basically, the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is a more intense version of the mean-looking Ram 1500. There are no improvements or enhancements made on the power levels of this badass pickup truck. It is just that its looks more aggressive both on the exterior and the interior. Just like any Ram 1500 Rebel, the Black Edition comes with a new front grille design – distinctly differently from a typical Ram 1500 – with a prominent billet silver “RAM” letter badge.
Its rear end comes with the “RAM” stamped tailgate, a rear bumper with flared cutouts around the dual chrome-tipped tailpipes, and taillights with black bezels. The off-road capability of the Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition is highlighted by its 33-inch all-terrain tires, factory lift, skid plates, tow hooks and Bilstein shocks. It also features an exclusive air suspension that allows it to boast of a higher ride.Read the entire article 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition unveiled
We are now several days into 2017, and with 2016 just ended, figures for total vehicle sales are now out. Now, one question remains. Who’s the king of sales among all vehicles in the United States in 2016?
No, it’s not the Toyota Camry. While the Camry remains as the best-selling car in the US despite suffering a 9.5-percent drop in annual sales, it doesn’t dominate the overall US vehicle sales. In fact, sales of the Camry are not even half of the overall volume for the Ford F-Series in 2016.
Yes, the Ford F-Series is still selling the most vehicles in the US – something it has been doing for 35 years in a row. In addition, the Ford F-Series is the #1 truck in terms of sales in the US for a consecutive 40 years. For the record, the sales figures for the Ford F-Series include the F-150 family (like the F-150 Raptor) and the F-Series Super Duty family (including the F-250, F-350 and F-450). However, Ford’s F-650 and the F-750 aren’t counted because they are considered heavy trucks.Read the entire article Ford F Series successfully defends crown as best-selling vehicle in the US in 2016
More capable, smarter, and tougher, these are the three words that best describe the all-new 2018 Ford F-150 Pickup from Ford. This latest offering will become a member of the F-Series truck family, long considered as the best-selling vehicle for a total of 35 years and the best-selling truck in the U.S. for 40 years straight.
It was three years ago when the company revealed the first generation of this model. It had fully utilized the military-grade high-strength aluminum alloy for the body. Now the new model is fitted with better engines and sports a new style for both the front and the rear. It even has a number of innovative technologies equipped like the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.
Aside from capability, the 2018 F-150 makes good on the Built Ford Tough commitment through a good use of different advanced materials that not only prevent corrosion but also make it more durable. The use of high-strength steel for the boxed ladder frame and the same aluminum alloy of the first generation ensure that the F-150 is lightweight and truly capable.Read the entire article NAIAS: Ford sets new standards with all-new 2018 F-150, new diesel engine introduced
Less than three months remain before Opel and Vauxhall unveil the new Insignia Grand Sport – the second generation of the Insignia – to the global public at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. The new Opel/Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport will have other versions as the Buick Regal (North America) and the Holden Commodore (Australia).
In the Land Down Under, the Holden Commodore has a utility (ute) version, which is basically a Commodore transformed into a coupe-like pickup. However, Holden has decided to stop production of the Commodore in Australia. Instead, Holden will import the Opel Insignia Grand Sport and rebadge it as the Commodore. Because of this, Holden practically killed off the ute version of the Commodore. This means, that for the next generation of the Commodore, the ute will no longer be available.
Perhaps knowing that the new generation of the Holden Commodore won’t have an ute anymore, a certain rendering artist named Theophilus Chin created his own – albeit through visual graphics. Chin’s eagerness to see an ute version of the Commodore and the frustration that it won’t be available anymore could be why he made an effort to imagine and render an ute version for the Australian auto market.Read the entire article This is how a 2018 Holden Commodore Ute would have looked like
After we caught a glimpse of the revamped Amarok, VW Australia once again wants to give its ute a sinister look inspired by the Mad Max movie franchise. The “Korama” as they call it is a special edition SUV made entirely to promote the new Amarok.
Decked in military camouflage, the concept vehicle was designed by the same guy behind the cars featured in the sci-fi fantasy film. Its Mad Max: Fury Road-inspired get-up is built to encourage Aussie customers to buy the new model.
The extraordinary Amarok concept seems to be wearing a complete battle gear with its new body. The folks at Volkswagen Australia made sure that it gets all the attention after the extreme facelift that lasted for only five weeks. They assigned professional drivers to man the vehicle and take it to different places, which eventually piqued the interests of the onlookers.Read the entire article VW reveals Mad Max Korama costume for its new Amarok

Sorry folks, the AMG-fied Mercedes-Benz X-Class will remain in the fantasy world. According to some news, the AMG big boss has finally spoken up about why an AMG X-Class is not going to happen. So those who have been wishing to get more out of the 3L turbo diesel V6 engine need to wake up from this delusion.
Okay, so the recently unveiled Mercedes-Benz X-Class Concept will not have the AMG treatment. But, there must be a good reason behind this. Mercedes –AMG’s Tobias Moers clarified that the production-ready pickup truck will not be equipped with high-performance upgrades for three main reasons.
The obvious and most important one of all is the market. Slated to go on sale next year, the new pickup has yet to establish its own footprint. But since the X-Class will be marketed in Australia, maybe then we can see how it goes from there? Still, Moers believes that the demand for an AMG upgrade should come from other places as well. And as far as they can tell, it’s not going to happen.Read the entire article Confirmed: There will be no AMG-fied Mercedes-Benz X-Class
Who would’ve thought that customizing a car could be a fun activity to gather friends and family? The Corns family owns a 40-acre salvage yard in Colorado and is home to hundreds of vehicles and tens of thousands of parts which they use for their projects. Recently, the family has been inviting friends to come over to work on one of their project vehicles, a 1939 Plymouth pickup truck. And they only have three rules to be a part of this weekly get together: first, you must love cars; second, beer is necessary for your entry; and last but not the least, a sense of humour is essential for a cheery working environment.
What makes this project extra special is that the truck is powered by a 12.4-liter Jacobs R-755 radial engine, the kind of thing that makes it fit to be called a “truck for the gods”. Even Mars (the Roman God of War) himself would probably want that on his modern chariot.
Years ago, Gary Corns bought the beat-up old 1939 Plymouth from one of his regular customers but it wasn’t until 30 years after that the project for the radial-engined truck began. For 30 years, the Corns family worked on other projects, leaving the old beat-up Plymouth in a corner waiting for its turn on the workshop table. Until one day, while Corns senior was making a trip to a nearby wrecking yard, he found a 1954 Cessna 195 airplane with its Jacobs R-755 radial engine still intact.Read the entire article A 1939 Plymouth pickup truck gets a Jacobs R-755 radial engine
Back in February of this year, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) introduced a new and improved 2017 Ram Power Wagon. The current version of the Power Wagon is snout-faced and looks nothing like its labelmates but the upcoming version is a different story and is, take note, a tad more expensive.
Based off the same 2500 model as that of the outgoing car, the 2017 Ram Power Wagon looks more appealing than ever before. The upcoming version will receive various interior and exterior trim changes that will surely attract off-roading enthusiasts.
For a $51,695 MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) – excluding the $1,320 destination fee – the 2017 Ram Power Wagon will receive a redesigned grille, front and rear bumper, wing mirrors and tailgate as well as new seat upholstery with a tire-tread pattern.Read the entire article 2017 Ram Power Wagon is all suited up and good to go, pricing details released
Records are meant to be broken. That was recently proven true when Ford broke the Guinness World Records for the ‘World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle.’ Interestingly, the record was previously held by rival Chevrolet, set in late September this year.
Well, pulling a flag is not an easy feat. More so if the record requires the vehicle to pull the flag for a minimum of 100 meters. In addition, no part of the banner should touch the ground during the 100-meter pulling drive.
Chevrolet’s September record was achieved at the Texas Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval using the 2017 Silverado HD powered by a Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbo-diesel engine that delivers 445 (332 kW) of max output and 910 lb.-ft. (1,234 Nm) of peak torque. According to Chevrolet, this amount of torque allows for exceptional pulling power and effortless trailering and hauling.Read the entire article Ford breaks Chevrolet's record for pulling the largest flag in the world
After introducing the Sierra 1500 and Canyon All Terrain X pickups, GMC has decided to give the Sierra 4x4 2500 HD a variety of upgrades. And for that, we can expect GMC’s crew cab to have the new underbody plate, off-road suspension kit, leather seats, heated steering wheel, park assist among many others. The 2017 SLT Crew cab will be offered in All-Terrain X and four wheel drive. Seeing how it goes with the Sierra 1500, the strong-featured X package can give the 2500 HD pickup the same rugged appeal.
The exterior modifications and hardware enhancements will significantly improve the crew cab’s overall looks and off-road performance. Aside from the black accents, GMC added a bespoke grille surround in either Summer White or Black Onyx body paint. All these features are considered to easily distinguish the Sierra 2500 limited edition from its inferior counterparts.
Moreover, the 2018 Sierra HD All Terrain X features an 18-inch black set of wheels. The tyres, which come from Goodyear, are the heavy duty LT275/65R18. Other standard equipment that comes with the package consists of Eaton automatic locking rear differential and Z71’s off-road suspension system.Read the entire article GMC unleashed wilder Sierra 2500 HD All Terrain X with 910 lb-ft of torque
When Chevrolet first introduced the Colorado, it managed to set new standards when it comes to mid-sized trucks. With the new Colorado ZR2, the brand is once again poised to repeat this. This latest offering is expected to lead the brand’s Colorado range and once it is officially released for sale, will contain more off-road technologies not before seen in the mid-size pickup class. As such, the new ZR2 is projected to offer extraordinary performance no matter what the condition may be. This can include, among many others, running at high speed in the desert, going through tight two-track roads, technical rock crawling, and even a casual daily drive.
According to Mark Reuss, who is the brand’s executive vice president for Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain, the engineering team had experienced previous success especially with the different variants of the Camaro and the Corvette. With the ZR2, he added, the team used the same philosophy but applied it for off-road performance. Reuss shares that with the ZR2, one can go rock crawling on a Saturday followed by a drive in the desert by Sunday and ultimately going to work on Monday. Indeed, this truck can not only do everything, he continued, but do everything very well.
In terms of powertrain, considering that the ZR2 is fitted with the same one in the 2017 Colorado, it becomes the sole production off-road truck to offer customers a selection between diesel and gasoline engines. Specifically, the diesel unit is the Duramax diesel engine which allows for 181 hp and peak torque of 369 lb.-ft. Meanwhile the other one is the 3.6-liter V6 engine which delivers output at 308 hp with top torque of 275 lb.-ft., and paired to the automatic 8-speed Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission. It comes as no surprise then to know that despite the upgrades geared for off-road driving, the ZR2 has a towing power of 5,000 lbs with the ability to carry payload of about 1,100 lbs. This fact alone gives the ZR2 an advantage compared to other models in the segment as it gives a wide array of choices when it comes to powertrain technologies. Furthermore, it is lighter by 500 lbs. and narrower by 1 ft., ensuring that it delivers better agility and offers enhanced trail access.Read the entire article 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 arrives at LA Auto Show
With the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show just hanging around the corner (scheduled on Nov. 18 to 27), quite a number of carmakers from all over the world are presenting their newest concepts and production vehicles as well as anything that relates to the auto industry. Of course, United States-based auto companies and brands would not let this big event go by without presenting something of their own – and the Ram brand is nonetheless more than eager to show off its offerings.
Just days before the LA Auto Show, Ram is previewing a special pair of its Rebel pickup truck – the Ram 1500 Rebel Ignition Orange Sport as well as the Ram 1500 Mojave Sand. While both the Ignition Orange Sport and Mojave Sand are derived from the 2017 Ram 1500, these special edition trucks can easily be told apart from their conventional counterparts.
This means that apart from some modifications on the exterior and on the interior of the 1500 Orange Sport and the 1500 Mojave Sand, these special editions are basically the same underneath. Available powertrains remain to be the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine providing 305 hp of output and 269 pound-feet of torque and the 5.7L HEMI V8 Engine delivering 375 hp of output and 410 lb-ft of torque.Read the entire article 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Ignition Orange Sport, Mojave Sand to debut at LA Auto Show
