Tesla Model S 60, 60 D will be discontinued starting April 17

Tesla confirms that they will be discontinuing the fairly new Model S 60 and 60D sedans as soon as next month. Why, you ask? The company wants to make enough room for the upcoming Model 3. But do not worry, orders of the entry level Model S (at $68,000) will be received until April 16. You should hurry up then if you still want to get any of those models before they’re scrapped.

The 60 line is currently Tesla’s most affordable electric car. It’s much more affordable than the Model S P90 D which starts at $90,700. The base model offers a 210-mile range and a battery pack capable of storing 75kWh. However, it is software limited to 60kWh, unless the buyer decides to pay an extra $6,500 to unlock its full power - increasing the driving range to 249-259 miles. Also, it will cost another $3,000 to enable the AutoPilot semi-autonomous features. Basically, you have to pay more, to get more. But not always, as the Model S 60 buyers can have access Tesla’s Supercharger network free of charge.

For the upcoming Model 3, the company plans to come out with seven options. However, if there would not be a new powertrain introduced soon enough, then they might reduce options to just five. This effort was done by the company to ensure that they have an affordable unit on hand, especially with the interest people are showing in the Model 3.

4th Generation Audi A8 (D5) to debut this summer

During the Audi Summit in Barcelona, Spain this coming July, the all new Audi A8 (D5) luxury saloon will make a publicity stunt. And according to reports, it will make its second appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in autumn 2017.

Looking more stylish than ever, the 4th generation Audi A8 will have a sharper, more chiseled look, inspired by the Audi Prologue Concept series, which everybody loved because of its elegance. If we are lucky enough, the A8 may even share qualities of the Prologue like the concave windscreen and a simple, minimalist interior, with its technology hidden behind screens. The A8 will be having a slightly larger footprint as well.

The A8 will be having plenty of automatic features like the Traffic Jam Assist (an updated version) - which basically lets the car just glide along with the speed of the other cars, at a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour during heavy traffic, without any input from the driver. Luckily for the driver, he or she will not have to dread about having to step on the brake pads every couple of seconds.

Alpina releases elegant B5 Bi-Turbo with 608 hp

BMW has confirmed that for now, it will not be releasing an M5 Touring. However, for those who want something in a similar vein, then Alpina may have the answer.

Based in Germany, Alpina is an automaker that manufactures cars based mainly on BMW models. Its latest offering is the elegant B5 Bi-Turbo which is based on the latest 5-Series (G30) range of BMW. Fans of the company are likely to be excited as everything they expect from Alpina is there. The alloy 20-inch multi-spoke wheels? Check. Brake calipers in blue? Check. It even has an aerodynamic kit that gives it that timeless design.

Powering this model is the biturbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that is capable of delivering 608 hp (447 kW) with peak torque of 590 lb.-ft. (800 Nm). This output is then channeled to the all-wheel drive system using the automatic eight-speed ZF transmission. With this amount, the sedan version is able to get a maximum speed of 205 mph (330 km/h) with acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) possible in 3.5 seconds. Since the wagon version is a bit heavier, maximum speed is at 202 mph (325 km/h) with acceleration from standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) achieved in 3.6 seconds.

BMW M760Li xDrive gets special treatment from BMW Individual

There is no denying that the new BMW M760Li xDrive really sits at the acme of the German premium carmaker’s 7-Series family. Along with its powerful and confident performance -- as powered by a new M Performance TwinPower Turbo V12 petrol engine -- the new BMW M760Li xDrive also boasts of being able to deliver segment-leading driving dynamics as well as ride comfort.

As an M Performance 7-Series, the BMW M760Li xDrive is about dynamics, especially concerning the amount of power emanating from its V12 engine. But aside from the fact the BMW M760Li xDrive is a true performer sitting on top of the 7-Series range, it also offers selections from BMW Individual. BMW Individual allows owners and would-be-owners to choose from an array of exterior and interior elements that aren’t usually offered. This means that customers could further evolve their BMW M760Li xDrive from something that is already special into a unit that is even more exclusive.

For instance, this particular model is wrapped in Frozen Dark Brown metallic exterior finish from BMW Individual, as accentuated by 20-inch BMW Individual Light alloy V-Spoke wheels with performance run-flat tires. Of course, there are more beautiful exterior finishes from BMW Individual the client could choose from. These include Moonstone Metallic finish, Almandine Brown Metallic color, Azurite Black Metallic and Ruby Black Metallic exterior finishes.

Opel revealed it has sweetened the pot for 2017 Insignia Grand Sport customers with the Opel Exclusive program. Through this program, the brand hopes to introduce a wide selection of colors that will clearly highlight the already elegant style.

However, it is not just about having colors to choose from as Opel wants to ensure that the second-generation Insignia customers will be able to stand apart from the rest. As such, Opel is offering an “unlimited range” of colors that are all based on the preference and style of the customer. This option though is not free and will come with additional cost.

Three finishes will be made available with the first one being the metallic finish which allows more incident light to be shown. The second is tri-coat finish which gives the vehicle a smoother look. Finally there is the pearl finish which makes use of a fine layer of crystals that are then embedded to the finish to give it a more natural shine.

Sooner or later this year, BMW intends to launch a performance version of its recently launched BMW 5 Series (G30) through the new BMW M5. But before we could see that happen, German carmaker Alpina will also be launching its own iteration and interpretation of the BMW 5 Series – the next generation of the Alpina B5.

Just recently, Alpina launched a teaser campaign for its new-gen B5. Two video clips were intended and the German company has just shown the first one. Well, the short video clip – lasting for just 30 seconds – shows a heavily camouflaged Alpina B5 speedily cruising through a road full of snow as surrounded by pine trees. It might be intending the dynamic capability of the new Alpina B5 to take on any challenges on any weather, even if the road is as slippery as an ice skating rink. The video clip ends by announcing that a new BMW Alpina is coming.

Since the 2018 Alpina B5 is heavily camouflaged – and no thanks to the snowy white background – it was pretty hard to see the visual changes implemented by the exclusive carmaker to transform a new BMW 5 Series into a new Alpina B5. Yes, while the new Alpina B5 should be very well derived from the new BMW 5 Series, it doesn’t mean they would look the same. The exterior appearance of the new generation of the BMW 5 Series (G30) should give us a good idea on how the new Alpina B5 would look like when it finally makes its debut on the market.

Hyundai is introducing a new 2018 Accent that is not only wider and longer, but is now also sporting a new look that is more serious than the previous model. The South Korean carmaker unveiled the 2018 iteration of the Accent at the 2017 Canadian International Auto Show, hoping that this iteration of the subcompact car will further boost the popularity in the United States in Canada.

The most glaring changes in the new 2018 Hyundai Accent are very much seen on its exterior. While the carmaker only unveiled the sedan version 2018 Hyundai Accent, the smaller sibling of the Hyundai Elantra will be available in both sedan and hatchback body styles. In terms of overall looks, the 2018 Hyundai Accent looks like a smaller version of its larger brother, the Elantra. From the front end to the rear end, the 2018 Accent sports an appearance that would make onlookers mistake it for an Elantra, until they realize that it is smaller than its Hyundai family sibling.

With the 2018 Accent donning a new and more serious look, gone now is the seemingly happy and smiling face of this subcompact car. The redesign implemented revisions on the subcompact’s grille and headlights as well as its wraparound lights on the rear, giving the new 2018 Accent a more earnest look in line with Hyundai’s other recently redesigned models (like the new Elantra GT). Headlining the subcompact’s new look is Hyundai’s signature hexagonal cascading grille as flanked by wrap-around headlights and LED daytime running lights.

Cadillac’s CT6 full-size prestige-luxury sedan is still somewhat new. It has been offered to the global auto market for two model years – 2016 and 2017. But for those who think that the first generation of the CT6 (short for Cadillac Touring 6) might be getting a little older, the US premium carmaker is readying a plethora of updates and upgrades for its range-topping sedan.

According to a recently published order guide, Cadillac is giving the CT6 sedan quite a number of tweaks and updates that should allow it to become more competitive while still attracting customers and delivering a better user experience.

For instance, Cadillac has deleted four exterior colors from the 2018 CT6 color palette -- Dark Emerald Metallic; Moonstone Metallic; Red Passion Tint coat; and Phantom Gray Metallic. While the premium carmaker deleted these four exterior colors, it also added three new tones as it hopes to refresh how the new 2016 looks like. These new exterior colors -- Red Horizon Tintcoat; Satin Steel Metallic; and Stone Gray Metallic – are available for a fee. When the 2018 Cadillac CT6 is availed on a Platinum grade, the Stone Gray Metallic exterior color could be specified for no additional charge.

In many industries, it is the rivalries that make things exciting. In basketball for example, there is the well-known rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers against the Boston Celtics. For football, there is Barcelona versus Real Madrid. In the automotive industry, there is the infamous competition between Ferrari and Lamborghini. At present, there is a new rivalry in the making which is the 5-Series (G30) from BMW against the E-Class (W123) of Mercedes-Benz.

What makes the battle between this two exciting is that they both belong to the executive mid-size saloon class. For cars that cost less, what buyers consider are generally related to the value or the added features. Premium models however also take into consideration the design, prestige, and heritage. The choice is made more difficult as both brands have been implementing changes.

For those wanted comfort and be on the more conservative side, the choice was always Mercedes-Benz. BMW meanwhile was all about athletic looks and a thrilling drive. However recently, BMW has been playing it a bit safe with Mercedes becoming more daring. So how do they fare against each other?

Now on sale in several major markets around the world including Europe, the BMW 5 Series (G30) heralds the arrival of the new seventh generation and represents a whole new level of luxury and comfort. Of course, the BMW 5 Series is now beginning to arrive at key markets around the world, including the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

In charge of sales and after-market of BMW vehicles in this city is BMW Abu Dhabi Motors, which is incidentally, the luxury carmaker’s largest dealership in the world. Just recently, BMW Abu Dhabi Motors has announced on its Facebook page the arrival of the new generation of the 5 Series into its showroom. To announce the arrival of the 5 Series into its fold, BMW Abu Dhabi Motors posted 27 images of the luxury sedan, which came in the guise of the BMW 540i Sport Line.

As we know, BMW will be offering the new 2017 BMW 5 Series in two Line packages at launch -- Luxury Line and Sport Line. The Luxury Line for the 5 Series further accentuates the luxurious and opulent nature of the vehicle chrome exterior accents. This Line also features specific wheels in 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, a Sensatec-covered instrument panel and interior leather with contrast stitching. On the other hand, Sport Line highlights the dynamic character of the 5 Series through a number of high-gloss black elements and 18-inch wheels. The door sills also feature an illuminated BMW Sport Line badge. Inside, the 5 Series Sport Line comes loaded with Sport seats with a cloth/leather combo, a specific interior trim and a BMW sports leather steering wheel.

General Motors is getting ready to unveil its new Buick Regal sedan at the Shanghai Auto Show 2017 in April. But before GM had the chance to do so, leaked images of the new sedan have surfaced.

Actually, we already have a good idea of how would the China-bound 2018 Buick Regal would look like as early as December 2016. At the time, General Motors introduced the Opel Insignia Grand Sport, which will have its official debut this March at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This new large family car marks the second generation of the Insignia after nearly a decade. The Insignia Grand Sport features a new design made distinct by elegant lines as well as best-in-class aerodynamics. It is also underpinned by a new platform and loaded with new systems and technologies. Of course, it was openly known that the second-gen Insignia would be the basis for the new Holden Commodore and the new Buick Regal, and would be homologated for the requirements in the countries where they would be marketed. This means we could expect some differences in the exterior, interior and the mechanicals of these models.

As the leaked images reveal, it seems that the China-bound 2018 Buick Regal looks very similar to the Opel Insignia Grand Sport. The most glaring difference is found on the front end – the China-bound Buick Regal features the brand’s waterfall grille and the large winged Buick logo on the center. Of course, the badges are different on the 2018 Buick Regal.

In racing, driving a quicker and lighter car doesn’t always result in a win. However, such a car definitely has some advantages over other competitors. This could be the reason why the Electric GT Championship is changing the base car from the Tesla Model S P85+ to Tesla Model S P100.

When the Electric GT World Series was announced in March 2016, organizer Electric GT Holding Inc. also disclosed that it has chosen the Tesla Motors S P85+ as a base model for the 10 teams bound to enter the event in its 2017 inaugural season.

Agustin Paya, Technical Director for Electric GT Holdings, remarked back then that the Tesla model S was chosen because of its impressive circuit racing potential with its power, acceleration, weight distribution and low center of gravity as well as superb cornering speed. The race-bound Model S P85+ would race with the same powertrain, battery and programming as the one available for the market, although it has received modifications with regards to braking, aerodynamics, suspension and cooling, as well as steering and overall weight.

How much do you need to shell out to buy a new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia? Well, it depends on the chosen variant and specs of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, although all versions of the premium mid-size sedan represent a fusion of Italian craftsmanship, performance and state-of-the-art technology.

The Italian carmaker is offering the Giulia sedan in three variants – base, Turismo Internazionale (TI) and the range-topping Quadrifoglio. The differences between these models are dictated by the specs, features and equipment found in each variant. To help interested customers in the United States better decide on how to specify their own Giulia, Alfa Romeo has launched an online configurator for the premium sedan. This online configurator also specifies how much each feature would cost the customer.

The base version of the Giulia has a starting price of $37,995, and when the destination charge of $995 is taken into account, the overall price is set at $38,990. What a customer gets is a rear-wheel drive Giulia sedan powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 direct-injection engine -- paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission -- that delivers 280 hp of max output and 306 lb.-ft. of peak torque.

When Skoda unveiled the face-lifted 2017 Octavia RS in late 2016, the Czech carmaker got rid of all doubts whether it would create an RS version of the car. At the time, it touted the 2017 Octavia RS 230 as the most powerful Octavia of all time.

However, Skoda is now introducing a version of the 2017 Octavia RS that is even more powerful than a regular Octavia RS 230. With that fact, the carmaker is now touting the new Skoda Octavia RS as the most powerful Octavia in the company’s history. Definitely, the new Skoda Octavia RS 245 is now the quickest, most powerful Octavia in the carmaker’s lineup.

To determine the differences between the Octavia RS 230 and the Octavia RS 245, perhaps you would need a keener sense of sight. For instance, the Octavia RS 245 has more black accents on the exterior and more specific decorative trims in the cabin. Specifically, trim framing the radiator grille comes in gloss black. The same treatment is given to the exterior mirror housings and the trapezoid tailpipes.

Something is brewing in the Middle East. BMW Abu Dhabi welcomes the brand new year with a bang by flaunting its own version of BMW M3. Known for its brightly colored BMW i8 models, BMW Abu Dhabi stays ahead of the game for giving its customers what they want. Just a few months ago, they created the most interesting plug-in hybrid sports cars decked in Lava Yellow, Lava Orange, Twilight Purple, Lava Green, Austin Yellow and Lava Red paint colors.

Though pricing details are still unknown, we bet the new M3 would also cost a fortune. Dressed in Ferrari Red and Competition Package, we can’t deny that it looks hot for the season ---- and it’s probably the priciest and fully loaded M3 performance sedan you could find right at this very minute.

What the dealer from the UAE had on its showroom is definitely a far cry from the M3s we’ve seen last year. Other than the red body paint, the most notable of all the upgrades is the 450hp, 3.0 litre twin turbo engine under the hood. Sure, it didn’t come all the way from Maranello Italy, but it has Ferrari’s spirit of performance at the very least. Paired with 7-speed dual clutch transmission, it can run from 0-62mph in about 4 seconds with a top speed of 163mph.

Motorists wanting to have the 2017 Citroen C-Elysee in their respective garages may now be able to place an order for the compact sedan in France. This face-lifted iteration of the Citroen C-Elysee could be availed at a starting price of €13,750 ($14,459).

According to the French carmaker, interested customers could only avail of one trim level for the 2017 Citroen C-Elysee, dubbed as Live. The base version of the 2017 Citroen C-Elysee is laden with an array of standard equipment that includes the Citroen Connect Radio system. This feature comes with a new touchscreen (measuring seven inches), which has an interface that paves the way for a more responsive in-vehicle experience. Allowing users to connect their smartphones to the vehicle through Bluetooth, this seven-inch touchscreen serves as a hub from where users could control the multimedia and telephone functions through smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink).

Designed to appeal to markets around the world, the new Citroen C-Elysee is underpinned by the same components that underpin the Peugeot 301. As many have guessed, the 2017 Citroen C-Elysee sports a revised look – although overall, its appearance has not changed that much. Cosmetics tweaks implemented on the new 2017 Citroen C-Elysee include a revised radiator grille as flanked by redesigned headlights, LED daytime running lights and fog lights as well as taillights with three-dimensional effect lights. Cosmetic tweaks for the 2017 iteration of the Citroen C-Elysee also included the addition of Lazuli Blue and Aluminum Grey colors, replacing the Teles Blue and Steel Grey hues, respectively. New 16-inch wheels could also be availed for the 2017 C-Elysee.

Some car enthusiasts may simply opt for BMW’s standard list of rim options while others go for something bolder. By bolder, we mean those rims that you’d typically find on big SUVs and low-slung sports coupes. As an example, consider this BMW 7-Series (G11) fitted with an over-the-top Quattresimo set of wheels.

As you can see on this black BMW, it has Forgiato’s 22-inch forged aluminum rims in gold finish. This particular design is from the Quattresimo collection, which is made of aircraft grade materials and can be availed in various forging options such as the convex, step lip or concave among many others.

In case you’re wondering, Forgiato’s team hails from Los Angeles California. It is also where they continue to produce and manufacture their excellent products. Still, the Italian sounding name is just as tasty as their wide array of colours and designs.

Regardless of how much we want it, Italian company Pagani Automibili is highly unlikely to develop and offer a four-door sedan. And there is a reason for that – Pagani is an auto company that specializes in creating and building carbon fiber-laden supercars. There is a significant gap in dynamics – as well as price -- between a supercar and a sedan, and we can’t expect Pagani to shift focus anytime soon.

Interestingly, a visual artist known as Peisert Design has taken into his own hands the liberty of rendering a four-door sedan for Pagani. Peisert Design has already impressed us with splendid renderings of several upcoming and even non-existent models. For instance, Peisert Design rendered the new Acura NSX -- closer to the image of the first-gen sports car.

Peisert Design also rendered complete images of the new Mercedes-AMG Project One using just the leaked graphics from the performance division of Mercedes-Benz – tough work considering that the official teaser images of the new hypercar were nothing more than a silhouette.

Meet the fastest-accelerating four-door production car in the planet. No, it is not a Lamborghini, a Ferrari or a Porsche. It is an updated Tesla Model S. This was proven during a recent drag race against a Cadillac CTS-V.

Actually, the Model S is already certified as the quickest four-door production car when it managed to complete the quarter-mile run in just 10.76 seconds in September 2016. This particular Model S is the top-of-the-range P100D version that employs a 100-kWh battery pack and the game-changing Ludicrous mode. In theory, the Model S P100D with Ludicrous could go as quickly as 2.5 seconds in the zero to 60 mph sprint. In the September quarter-mile run, an industrial generator was used by a team of Tesla enthusiasts in order to achieve the absolute best time possible -- by doing drag runs at 100-percent state of charge.

But recently, Tesla Motors launched a software update for the P100D version – the Ludicrous Plus. This update furthers unlocks the capabilities of the Tesla Model S P100D. When the Ludicrous Plus mode is activated – done by pressing the “Ludicrous” button on the settings screen for five seconds – the temperature of the 100-kWh battery pack is raised to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, the max power output from the electric motors of the Tesla Model is further increased by an estimated 30 hp.
