The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall of 1,090 vehicles from Aston Martin related to a suspension issue. The recall covers V8 Vantage, DB9 and DBS models that belong to the 2007-2008 model years. There is a risk that the vehicle’s steering would be affected by the cracking of the front bottom suspension arm cam bolt, resulting to uncontrolled movements of the arm.
According to the press release, a crash could result from the front bottom suspension arm cam bolt cracking along its shank allowing the lower control arm to move. Movement of the lower control arm is expected to influence the driver’s control of the steering of the vehicle.
Aston Martin dealerships will replace the front suspension lower control arm cam free of charge. The recall will debut by October 18. Those who own one of these vehicles may contact Aston Martin Customer Service at 1-888-923-9988 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
