After yesterday’s leaked photos and specs, the new Aston Martin is here: this is the 2013 Vanquish! According to the official press release, the new Vanquish promises the beginning of an exciting and confident future for the Aston Martin brand. If you look at the photos you will see that the new Vanquish borrows styling cues such as the elegant new waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades from the impressive One-77 supercar. The design is highlighted by the stunning new Aero Duct on the rear boot lid. As we said yesterday, the new Aston Martin Vanquish is powered by a revised version of the naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine mated to the Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic gearbox.
The V12 delivers 565 bhp (573 PS) and 620 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, making the new Vanquish the most powerful production model yet, outmuscled only by the strictly limited edition £1.2m One-77 supercar. With the help of the new engine, the 2013 Vanquish is capable to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 183 mph or 295 km/h. Still, the firm promises better fuel consumption for the V12 engine.
Moreover, the new Vanquish is a true super GT and features body panels constructed from carbon fibre because of its high strength-to-weight ratio and flexibility of form. Furthermore, the car offers a more spacious cabin and a boot: 368 litres. This means that it is with 60% larger than that of the DBS. Just like any Aston Martin, the 2013 Vanquish will be hand-built at company’s global headquarters at Gaydon in Warwickshire and will be available as a 2+2 or 2+0. The 2013 Vanquish sits atop a broad line-up of world-class sports cars including the exquisite DB9, sporty V8 Vantage and luxurious four-door Rapide. Pricing starts at £189,995 or $141,185 or €235.479.
