Aston Martin will not go electric! Will use hydrogen fuel cell technology!

Dr Ulrich Bez, the boss of Aston Martin, certainly isn’t a fan of the current trend for battery-powered cars. At the Frankfurt Motor Show where he unveiled the new four-door Rapide, Dr Bez had said that plug-in motors would prove to be unworkable for at least 10 years.
He explained that the technology won’t be usable until at least 2020. He said that the weaknesses of battery-powered cars would reveal themselves during real-world driving, proving that it isn’t a “a true alternative to the combustion engine for a long time.” Dr Bez emphasized that instead, the focus should be on hydrogen fuel cell technology. He also openly called for governments to create incentives for its development. During the auto show, it was interesting to see the Rapide just meters apart from its main competitor, the Porsche Panamera. Powering the Rapide is a 470bhp 6.0-litre V12 engine from the DB9. A Touchtronic 2 gearbox to drive the rear wheels is used, allowing it to go from 0-60mph in less than five seconds. Price is set from £150,000. Deliveries will begin in 2010.
