Audi A1 e-Tron wins the 2011 Silvretta E-Auto Rally

Audi triumphed at the second edition of the Silvretta E-Auto Rally with its A1 e-tron entry. It had won last year with its R8 e-tron. Meanwhile, Audi’s Q5 HFC, its second vehicle in this rally, took sixth place. In the recently held Silvretta, a total of 32 cars competed. The A1 e-tron, which was assigned the competition number 206, ran for three days, 307 kilometers and a total altitude difference of 11,541 meters.

Franciscus van Meel, Head of Electromobility Strategy at AUDI AG, was driving the car. Co-driver honors went to Audi employee Gerhard Gruber. In terms of performance, the Audi A1 e-tron features an electric motor with a maximum output of 75 kW that is fitted with a lithium-ion battery.

This battery features a 12 kWh capacity and full charging can be completed in 30 minutes when using quick charge and under three hours when using standard charge. It gives a 50km range. In addition, the A1 e-tron features a combustion engine, which charges the battery when it’s needed.
