Audi hopes to boost its sales when it will launch the A7 sedan

Audi Sportback ConceptWith the addition of the A7 to its lineup in 2011, Audi of America hopes to boost annual sales of top-line sedans to 10,000 units, says President Johan de Nysschen. The restyled A8 will arrive in November 2010 while the A7 ‚ a four-door with coupe styling ‚ will follow nine months after. The new A8 was unveiled just last week but so far, the A7 has only been seen in concept form. De Nysschen believes that in a full year, the carmaker could sell up to 5,000 new A8s and as many A7s. For this year, de Nysschen thinks that 3,500 units of the current A8 will be sold. Continued after the jump! Sales of the A8 peaked at 5,943 in 2004.The A7 will be priced below the A8, which currently starts at $75,375 including freight. The 2011 A8 will be priced higher because of a substantial increase in content, including a touch-screen system that controls navigation, audio and communications. Unfortunately, we don‚Äôt have pictures of the A7 production version yet but de Nysschen claims that it will be similar to the concept car seen at the Detroit auto show in January 2009. Compared to the redesigned A8, the styling of the A7 will be ‚Äúmore avant-garde." Not much was changed with the look of the A8.. It‚ expected that the A7 is similar in size to the short-wheelbase version of the A8. [via autonews - sub. required]
