Audi Q5 TDI to join U.S. lineup in 2014

2013 Audi Q5

Audi’s SUV lineup available in the U.S. will be getting a Q5 TDI, which features a 3.0-liter V6 diesel powerplant with 245-hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. The current Audi Q5 is offered with three engine choices. The first is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that has an output of 211-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Then there’s a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 (272-hp, 295 lb-ft of torque). The third is a hybrid 2.0-liter turbo-four with a 44-hp electric motor that offers a combined output of 208-hp. The V6 diesel engine is the same powerplant used in the European SQ5 TDI model however, it would use a detuned version as the European-spec engine delivers 313-hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Audi claims that the diesel Q5 accelerate to 60-mph in less than 6.5 seconds. According to the European cycle, it can return about 37-mpg. EPA figures would be lower but we won’t know the exact figure until the model is about to arrive at showrooms in the summer. [source: AutoGuide]
