The world's first 'second' generation diesel racing sports car was produced by AUDI AG. With the brand new Audi R15 TDI, Audi intends to underscore its superiority and combine its proficiency once more at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Le Mans 24 is specifically appropriate for efficient and economical cars which are especially required for the French endurance course.
The focus of the car is on weight reduction, eco-friendliness and well-planned aerodynamics just as they are during the course of making production vehicles. The engineers are given lots of leeway for this reason and Audi Sport took advantage of this liberty and put a new LMP1 race car on the track that's totally distinct from all preceding Le Mans sports cars.
The R15 TDI comes with lots of detailed technical solutions never previously found on a prototype sports car. With the R15 TDI Audi made a totally new path. The new vehicle carries a newly developed V10 TDI engine capable to develop more than 600 hp and 1050 Nm of torque.
