Audi R8 LMS making its debut in the Nurburgring 24-Hour endurance race

When it was launched the Audi R8 hit the auto market big time and since the introduction of the R8 LMS variant, the success has been sustained, attaining a podium position in the BF Goodrich Endurance Championship, its very first race. Currently the car is trying an even more challenging race as it intends to participate in the German 37th ADAC Zurich 24 Hour Race. The North Loop of Nurburgring has reached the status of world's favorite automotive testing and development circuit and that's the reason why carmaker and racing teams flock to its famous track to engage in a 24-hour endurance race which will surely expose their machine's flaws and weak spots.
Two racers each for ABT Sportsline and Phoenix Racing will be participating in the GT3. Timo Scheider, the current DTM Champion, and his teammate Mattias Ekstrom, and Marco Werner, the three-time winner of the Le Mans, will be among those who will be behind the wheel for ABT.
On the other hand, Christian Abt, Jean Francios Hemroulle, Pierre Kaffer and Lucas Luhr will be piloting the second car. The driver lineup for Phoenix Racing also come with a few recognizable names too, like Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro, both multiple Le Mans winners, and the famous Hans-Joachim Stuck. The second Phoenix Racing R8 LMS will be piloted by Marcel Fassler. The main Racing R8 will be piloted by Marc Basseng, Mike Rockenfeller and Frank Stippler. The race will commence this coming May 23 and will also highlight on track the likes of the Subaru WRX STI and Lexus LF-A supercar prototype.
