Audi releases its financial result for the first half of the year
Audi reported an operating profit of 823 million euros in the first half of the year, down from 1.3 billion euros in the same period last year. In the first 6 months of 2009, Audi sold 466,000, while it sold 516,219 units in 2008, a 9.7% drop.
Audi board member Axel Strotbek said that the company is very satisfied with the result but that it does expect to experience some difficulties in the second half. Targets will be maintained at 900,000 vehicles by the end of the year. Profit for the manufacturer before tax for the six months stood at 994 million euros, as opposed to the 1.4 billion euros posted last year, a drop of 27.5% compared. Profit after tax was around 697 million euros, down 25% from the 930 million euros posted for the first six months of 2008.
