Audi to achieve its target of delivering about 900,000 vehicles
Audi AG achieved an astonishing feat of hitting its target of delivering 900,000 vehicles in 2009 despite the poor state of the current market. In 2008, Audi recorded annual sales of more than 1 million for the first time in its history.
The global sales of Audi, a Volkswagen AG luxury car subsidiary, sold 705,300 cars from January through September, a 7.5% drop, says Autonews. Contributing to this figure was the September sales of only 88,600 vehicles, a 6.8% decrease. In a statement, Audi sales and marketing chief Peter Schwarzenbauer said that unit sales “developed better than expected” in the first 9 months of the year. Let’s see how the rivals are faring. September group vehicle sales for BMW AG, the world’s biggest premium carmaker, that includes Mini and Rolls-Royce, rose 0.7% to 122,354 units. Meanwhile, sales at Daimler AG’s premium Mercedes-Benz Cars, which includes the Mercedes and Smart brands, fell 6.5% to 114,300.
