Audi wins the RCH Green Challenge

German manufacturer Audi announced yesterday it managed to win the second heat of the RCN Green Challenge”, a fuel efficiency competition held over the weekend on the Northern Loop of the Nurburgring track.The feat was accomplished with two Audi TT 2.0 TFSI models, which finished first and fourth. In the four-lap race, the two Audi's averaged a fuel consumption of only 1.6 liters per each lap of 20.832 kilometers (12.94 miles), beating the city consumption used as benchmark by some 28 percent.In words we can all understand, the two TTs achieved an average fuel consumption of 7.7 l/100 km (30.55 mpg) on the track. The two cars which entered the contest were series-production 200 hp (147 kW) Audi TT 2.0 TFSI models approved for normal street traffic and equipped with six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Held for the first time this year, the RCN Green Challenge was intended to combine speed and performance with low fuel consumption figures. The goal was not to see which car manages the fastest lap, but also who does so without consuming tons of fuel.
