Another way that Mercedes-Benz has chosen to commemorate its 125th anniversary in 2011 is to partner with Aurora pens to make limited edition writing instruments. This is the same company that had made the ‘Pens of the Italians’. The Limited edition Optima, which has a black resin body, is the most premium one from this group.
The writing instrument has a finishing of gold and diamonds. In addition, precious metal was specially crafted for the nib of the pen.
The pen uses the piston filling mechanism so that it will have a smooth ink flow, making writing as pleasurable as driving. The Mercedes Star could be seen at the top of the pen cap. Meanwhile, the entire packaging is a numbered wooden box with leather finish, of which only 12 will be made. It has a price tag of $4,526 (€3,500). [source: BornRich]
