1975 Maserati Merak by Saurer will be auctioned on May 17

Article by Christian Andrei, on April 25, 2013

Silverstone Auctions is offering the silver 1975 Maserati Merak by Saurer on May 17 at its International Trophy Sale. This incredible unique sports car is the creation of motorsport specialists Carrosserie Saurer in Switzerland. This famous motor is very well documented since it’s very rare, guaranteeing that whoever owns it will go down in history.

This Merak model was built in 1975. In 1984, it got into the hands of Swiss-based Saurer where it was treated to some highly precise engineering. The redesigned bodywork was built to form what Paul Saurer described as his ideal ‘Hot Merak’. The vehicle is said to have surpassed expectations.

If you want to view it, be at the ultra-modern Wing building at Silverstone race track before the car auction starts at 2pm on May 17. This vehicle has been redesigned to be extremely pleasing visually but what makes it even more of an in-demand collectible is that it kept all of its original running gear.

The 1975 Maserati is expected to fetch a price of between £35,000 and £40,000. For more details about this model and the other vehicles offered at the International Trophy Sale, go to silverstoneauctions.com.
