2009 Audi Q5 U.S. pricing announced

The base price for the 2009 Audi Q5 crossover, which will hit dealerships in the US the following week and available in three equipment levels, has been placed at $37,200. MSRP for the different versions of the Audi Q5 are as follows; Audi Q5 Premium comes with a $37,200 price tag, the Audi Q5 Premium Plus begins at $41,500 and the Audi Q5 Prestige at $48,200.

All of these price tags are exclusive of the $825 destination charge, taxes, title or dealer fees. The Q5 will compete with luxury cars like the Lexus RX, the Mercedes-Benz GLK, and the BMW X3. Audi will have the chance to exceed rivals in the popular crossover vehicle category with the opening of the Q5. And, with a combination of stunning exterior and interior design, wide-ranging safety features, advanced technologies and outstanding performance, the Audi Q5 is up to the task.

The crossover vehicle segment has suffered from monotony according to Audi President Johan de Nysschen sameness which Audi is sure to upset with its unique styling and future-focused highlights. The Q5 will be the only crossover vehicle that will come with a three-zone climate control permitting all the occupants to choose their own personal levels of comfort.

This unique crossover also comes with 40/20/40 rear seats that tilt back and offer both front and rear adaptability for passenger convenience and cargo-carrying capacities. Parallel roof rails made from aluminum that match the Audi ESP system provides extra baggage space. The Audi Q5 will also be equipped with LED tail lights, running lights, brake lights and signal lights as standard. For towing capabilities the Q5 can handle 4,400 lbs, making it class leader.

The Audi Q5 maintains Audi's reputation for excellent interiors demonstrated by standard equipment including 12-way power front seats, leather seating surfaces all over and inlays in genuine wood or aluminum. Further feature includes the Bang & Olufsen Sound System and the Audi exclusive drive select system that provides users with four driving configuration options. Coming with MMI Navigation plus, a system that manages entertainment, communications and navigational info, the Audi Q5 will be the first model to be sold in the US with this advanced technology.

The MMI comes with 40 gigabytes of hard disk, 10 gigabytes of which is exclusively for media storage purposes, DVD drive and an NVIDIA processor for graphics applications, permitting the display of 3D maps of the US including predetermined sites of interest, buildings while providing appropriate traffic details in real time. The system comes with a large 7" display monitor, vocal command capabilities that accept complete words in different languages plus a practical joystick control which has been enhanced.

The Audi Q5 is based on the versatile A4 platform providing it with superb driving experience and high performance traits of a luxury vehicle and also the longest wheelbase in its range and a broadened platform to increase shoulder space in the cabin and provide the driver enhanced perspective of the road. The front and rear overhangs have been shortened for efficiency and enhanced stability. The Q5 comes with an AWD system, and economical gasoline engine rated at 18mpg in the city and 20mpg combined and 23mph highway driving.
