Chevrolet has unveiled the limited production GT1 Championship Edition of the Chevrolet Corvette at Sebring International Raceway. These GT1 Championship Editions, which are offered as Regular Production Option GT1, pay tribute to the racing success of Corvette Racing and the Corvette C6.R.
Corvette Racing and the Corvette C6.R were able to secure eight American Le Mans Series GT1 manufacturers and team championships as well as 74 wins in international sports car races. Likewise, Corvette Racing and the Corvette C6.R were champions of their class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for five times.
Truly made for winners, the GT1 Championship Edition package includes a ZR1-style body color full-width spoiler and chrome wheels, as well as a special engine cover with yellow Corvette lettering and carbon pattern.
The package also includes graphics -- inspired by C6.R livery -- featuring Corvette Racing "Jake" mascot, ALMS championships, and driver flags. It also features ebony interior wrapped in leather with yellow accent stitching.
Interior elements like the instrument panel, leather seats and center console armrest feature exclusive GT1 embroidery. Furthermore, the package includes a windshield banner that will be installed by owners themselves. Customers could avail of the GT1 Championship Edition in three body types: Corvette coupe, convertible and Z06 models.
They could choose to have their limited editions finished in either 45U Velocity Yellow with black headlamps or 41U Black. Limited editions in 45U Velocity Yellow will bear specific VIN sequence 300001 series, representing the No. 3 Corvette C6.R.
On the other hand, limited editions in 41U Black will have specific VIN sequence 400001 series, representing the No. 4 Corvette C6.R. In total, there will be six body style and color combinations – 45U Velocity Yellow coupe, 45U Velocity Yellow convertible, 45U Velocity Yellow Z06, 41U Black coupe, 41U Black Yellow convertible and 41U Black Z06.
Chevrolet will only produce 100 examples for each combination, for a total of 600 units. For coupe and convertible versions, included are Z51 Performance Package and NPP Performance Exhaust. Of course, Chevrolet is offering optional elements for the GT1 Championship Edition Corvette. For instance, U3U Navigation System is optional on all models while MX0 6-speed paddle shift automatic is available for the coupe and convertible.
On the other hand, the C2L dual roof package is only available for the coupe body style. Established in 1908, the Detroit-based General Motors Corp. is considered as one of the largest carmakers.
