It will be built on the same assembly line as the award-winning and quality-proven Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300.
The Challenger's engine is kept under a long, high performance hood that comes with functional hood air scoops to increase engine cooling capabilities. Its powerplant itself features dual variable-cam timing (VCT) and dual ignition, which means that there are two sparkplugs per cylinder, to generate more power and torque and simultaneously enhancing efficiency and refinement. When this is combined with the Tremex 6-speed manual transmission, it comes with a precision shift "pistol-grip" shifter from Track Pak, shiny pedals, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with defeatable traction control, Hill Start Assist (HAS), 4-wheel disc high performance stopping system and an anti-spin 3.92 differential. Engine back pressure and audio are optimized through performance-tuned dual exhaust by substituting the regular muffler with two low-restriction bottle resonators.
The end result is an extremely potent 376hp (280kW) and 410lb-ft (556Nm) of torque and an acceleration rate of 0-60mph in under 6 seconds.Also offered is a 5-speed auto transmission with Auto Stik which provides efficiency and responsiveness. Outstanding launch performance is provided by an aggressive first-gear ratio as the totally adjustable electronic control transmission delivers more responsiveness apart from a harness.
