It will be built on the same assembly line as the award-winning and quality-proven Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300.

The Challenger's engine is kept under a long, high performance hood that comes with functional hood air scoops to increase engine cooling capabilities. Its powerplant itself features dual variable-cam timing (VCT) and dual ignition, which means that there are two sparkplugs per cylinder, to generate more power and torque and simultaneously enhancing efficiency and refinement. When this is combined with the Tremex 6-speed manual transmission, it comes with a precision shift "pistol-grip" shifter from Track Pak, shiny pedals, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with defeatable traction control, Hill Start Assist (HAS), 4-wheel disc high performance stopping system and an anti-spin 3.92 differential. Engine back pressure and audio are optimized through performance-tuned dual exhaust by substituting the regular muffler with two low-restriction bottle resonators.

The end result is an extremely potent 376hp (280kW) and 410lb-ft (556Nm) of torque and an acceleration rate of 0-60mph in under 6 seconds. Also offered is a 5-speed auto transmission with Auto Stik which provides efficiency and responsiveness. Outstanding launch performance is provided by an aggressive first-gear ratio as the totally adjustable electronic control transmission delivers more responsiveness apart from a harness.

On the other hand, when it is coupled with an auto transmission, the latest generation 5.7-liter HEMI V8 comes with the fuel-saving multi-displacement system (MDS) permitting the Challenger R/T Classic to function more economically on four cylinders and with 372hp (277kW) and 401lb-ft (544Nm) of torque when all 8 cylinders are required.

On the inside, the Challenger features the trapezoidal scheme of the door panel cove and gauge cluster, dark headliner and slanted shifter console which comes from the original Dodge Challenger. This inspiration from the past continues with a gauge cluster called the "four bomb" that comes with deep easy-to-read white front faces. Included also are high-end leather trimmed bucket seats with climate control which are finished with French-seamed stitching. Available on the Challenger is the advanced uconnect gps with voice recognition capability, with real-time traffic navigation and Universal Customer Interface (UCI).

Rear seating in a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic is exceptional for a two-door coupe with best-in-class head clearance of 37.4 inches and leg room of 32.6 inches in contrast to rivals. More comfort and functionality is provided by the best-in-class cargo section volume of 16.2 cu. ft. comparable to the Dodge Charger. The R/T Classic is offered in Stone White, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl, Bright Silver Metallic plus three Dodge heritage colors: HEMI orange, B5 Blue, and TorRed. Production of the Challenger Classic will begin next month at the assembly line at Brampton, Ontario, Canada which built the award-winning Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.
