After much commendation for its athletic and aggressive styling at the Paris Motor Show last month, Renault has finally established UK pricing for its stylish new Megane Coupe series. Ordering starts early November, with prices starting from £14,745 ($23,713 or €18,600), ready for the stylish three-door to go nose-to-nose with rivals such as the Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch and Vw Scirocco.
At start, three trim levels will be available: Expression, Dynamique and Privilege, with tags ranging from £14,745 ($23,713 or €18,600) to £19,195 ($30,867 or €24,224). Abiding with the impressive list of standard equipment on the five-door Hatch, the new Coupe has been intended to offer all of the comfort and practicality highlights to make everyday use as pleasurable and comfortable as possible.
Adding to the car's five proper seats, sports chassis with sturdier suspension and a 12mm lower ride height in contrast with the Hatch, the Coupe liberal core features consist of air conditioning, six airbags, electric heated body colored door mirrors, front electric windows and emergency spare wheel.
The entry-level Expression offers 16-inch Sport alloy wheels, 4x15W RDS radio CD, Brake Assist, front fog lights, height adjustable driver's seat, height and reach adjustable steering wheel, Keyless vehicle with Renault's card and trip computer.
The mid-range Dynamique, which is also the most likely to account for the volume of Coupe sales, profits from 17-inch alloy wheels (2.0 TCe 180 only), 4x15W RDS radio CD with Bluetooth and MP3 connectiivity, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control, Hands free Renault card, height adjustable passenger seat, leather steering wheel, speed limiter and extra tinted rear side windows.
As the more athletic model in the New Megane series, the Coupe does without the 1.6 100 engine seen on the five-door, but gains Renault's first CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) with the 2.0 140 gas engine. Confirming that elegant and sport-oriented vehicles can still be safe for the environment, all five diesel versions of the Coupe fulfill Renault's eco criteria.
Six-speed manual gearboxes are standard for all models in the series with the exception of the 1.5 dCi 86 which is five-speed, and of course the CVT. Completing the Coupe series is Privilege, offering 16-inch Spirale alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, folding door mirrors which are electrically adjusted, electrochome rear view mirror, rear seat armrest with storage and rear parking sensors.
