The pricing and full spec details for Seat's brand new Exeo saloon that was released lately establish that the Spanish upper medium range competitor will be a class leader when it reaches showrooms in the spring of 2009. Offered from £17,740 RRP, the stylish 5-seat saloon pledges high quality and outstanding levels of typical equipment, together with Seat's trademark sporting attributes.

The company has established that its luxurious Latin newcomer, set to go on sale in April, will be available in S, SE, Sport and range-topping SE Lux trim levels, with a first choice of three impressive powerplants. All Euro V-compliant, the engine selection consists of a series of advanced common rail turbodiesels generating 143 PS or 170 PS, as well as a powerful 200 PS turbocharged gasoline engine. They are all coupled, as regular, to a 6-speed manual gearbox and all bestow the Exeo with dynamic performance.

At opening, the latest Seat saloon's rate of acceleration from 0 to 62 mph begins from 9.2 seconds (for the 143 PS TDI) through 8.4 seconds (170 PS TDI) to a characteristically dynamic 7.3 seconds for the 200 PS TSI gasoline-propelled models. Top speeds, where legal, are 133 mph, 142 mph and 149 mph, and in that order. Fuel consumption and emissions, both important concerns for private and business customers in today's straitened conditions, are admirable.

Contingent on powerplant, the Exeo is able to produce up to 51.4 mpg, on the combined cycle, with an official CO2 emissions rate of as low as 143 g/km. Among the equipment features ensured to be shared across the new series are USB connectivity permitting MP3 music players to be utilized in-car; cruise control; audio controls mounted on the steering wheel; dual zone climate control and elegant alloy rims. Fog lamps at the front, electrically adaptable and heated door mirrors, all-electric windows and door handles and mirrors that are color-coded are also typical on every Exeo.

Together with the equipment found in SE spec' cars, Exeo Sport customers naturally take advantage of sports suspension, sports seats and elegant 18 inch alloys, while those who choose the top of the range SE Lux will enjoy black leather covers and bi-xenon headlights with AFS as one of their standard-fit kit.
