2009 Toyota Verso receives the new 2.2 D-CAT 150 clean diesel engine

Article by Christian A., on August 26, 2010

A 2.2 D-CAT 150 clean diesel engine with an intelligent six-speed automatic transmission provides dynamic appeal to Toyota's seven-seat Verso. The powertrain, which it shares with Avensis, bears all the characteristics of Toyota Optimal Drivetechnologies. Performance is made smoother, fuel is more economic and emissions are reduced.

Peak power of 148bhp is delivered at 3,600rpm and maximum torque of 340Nm is available from just 2,000rpm.

Acceleration from rest to 62mph is a fraction more than 10 seconds. And you can have all this power with an official combined cycle fuel economy of 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 178g/km.

Combined NOx and particulate emissions are ultra-low due mainly to Toyota's D-CAT system with its four-way catalyst and maintenance-free particulate filter.

The six-speed automatic transmission adapts its shift pattern automatically in line with individual driving style and driving conditions, with smooth and quiet shifts.

The system has a Sport mode, and the driver can also opt to make manual gearshifts, using the shift lever or paddle controls on the steering wheel.

Furthermore, the 2.2 D-CAT 150 automatic is available in Verso TR and T Spirit grades. Both versions are fitted as standard with 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
