Targeting young customers and those preferring a car that blends sporty looks with practicality, Honda will commence sales of the new five-door Honda Civic Si in September, giving interested buyers a high-spec option. The Japanese carmaker will make the new Si grade available across its 5-door Civic range – in all available engines and transmissions -- which means that even young customers who are usually tight on budget could still afford avail this grade.

Si variants will feature color-coded bumpers, a Type R-style mesh front grille and front fog lights. It will also feature dark chrome door handles and fuel cap, just like those seen on the Championship White Type R. On the other hand, the 1.4-liter Si model will be provided with 16-inch Graphite colored alloy wheels and the 1.8 petrol and 2.2 diesel Si Civic models will be adorned with 17-inch Graphite colored alloy rims.

Honda is making available three metallic exterior paint colors for the Si grade: Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl. Si models are painted in Milano Red as standard. Moving inside, all Si models will carry a sports theme and will feature half-leather upholstery.

They will also be provided with a USB port for iPod connectivity. In terms of efficiency, the 1.4-liter Civic Si with manual transmission returns 47.9mpg in fuel economy and emits 135g/km of carbon dioxide. When mated with the i-SHIFT transmission, the 1.4-liter Si returns 49.6mpg and emits 132g/km of carbon dioxide.

SPORTY Si INTRODUCED ON CIVIC 5-DOOR

A high-spec new variant of the Honda Civic 5-door goes on sale from September, giving the popular British-built hatchback even sportier looks.

The new Si grade will be available across the entire 5-door Civic range, in all engine variants and transmissions. The 1.4-litre Si model will wear Graphite coloured 16-inch alloy wheels while higher-powered 1.8 petrol and 2.2 diesel Si Civics will sit on 17-inch Graphite coloured alloy rims.

The Si has been designed to appeal to the Civic's increasingly youthful customer and those who want sporty looks with the practicality of a 5-door. And because the Si grade is available across the Civic 5-door range, those on a smaller budget can also enjoy the Si's distinct looks.
