Now available in the U.K., the sporty compact Alfa MiTo is the first model in the Alfa Romeo range to have the all new ALFA TCT automatic transmission with dry twin clutch.
This Alfa Romeo MiTo is equipped with the 1.4 TB MultiAir 135 bhp petrol engine and this is combined with a Start&Stop system. It offers a fuel economy rating of 38.7 mpg over an urban cycle, CO2 emissions level of 128 g/km, and the ability to accelerate from zero to 62mph in 8.2 seconds.
This performance is superior to that of the same engine but with a manual gearbox, which have ratings of 38.2 mpg, 129 g/km and acceleration time of 8.4 seconds.
The Alfa MiTo 1.4 TB MultiAir with ALFA TCT is offered in two trim levels: Lusso and Veloce. Prices start from £16,745 OTR. How the ALFA TCT transmission operates is distinguished by maximum interaction with the vehicle's systems.
To get the best performance on the road depending on driving conditions and on the driver's requests, the transmission interacts with the braking, engine control, Alfa D.N.A. vehicle dynamic control switch, Start&Stop, steering and vehicle stability control systems.
Because of the speed reached in processing the parameters, the transmission can modify the speed of gear shift, and manage the torque delivery, for instance on low grip roads. It can also operate entirely automatically or as a manual sequential gearbox, and adopt a usage profile that concentrates mainly on cutting fuel consumption.
