As the Goodwood Festival of Speed opens in the UK, another major event is also taking place at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Melbourne where there’s a special unveiling that just couldn’t be ignored.
This is Ford Performance Vehicles’ first-ever ‘concept car’ -- an all-black GT-based FPV concept that boasts several special bespoke features and design tweaks. Ford outdid itself on the paintwork for this one-off concept car. It is finished in Silhouette black paint and it has a one-of-a-kind matte finish stripe package on the bonnet, rear wing and bodysides.
The rear diffuser also received this paint treatment. At the front, we see that large brake ducts are integrated into the modified front fascia. It uses black framing to enhance the rear light graphics treatment. In addition, the vehicle features an exclusive black GT badging.
It is also fitted with black 19-inch lightweight one-piece forged alloy rims that are covered with special Dunlop SP Sportmaxx GT tires. It is powered by a supercharged Boss 5.0-litre V8 engine. Its suspension was track-tuned and quad black tips were used for the full stainless steel high-flow twin exhaust system.
Its braking system consists of larger six-piston brake calipers up front and four-piston brake calipers at the rear, both of which are finished in black. Its interior also carries the dark theme. Black leather trim was used. It also underwent an all-black dash treatment, including the interior command centre (ICC).
