2011 Bentley Continetal GT: official details, photos and specs

Article by Christian A., on September 7, 2010

As expected, Bentley unveiled today the 2011 Continental GT 4-seat coupe, a facelifted version of their popular vehicle which will make its world debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. As you can see, the new car features a completely new front fascia with LED daytime running lights as well as new tail lights and revised bumpers.

The track is wider by 41mm at the front and 48mm at the rear than the previous model. Under the hood we find the same 6.0-liter W12 engine delivering 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and 700Nm (516lb ft) of torque and mated to a new Quickshift transmission which enables double downshifts.

The engine can push the car 60mph in 4.4 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds), to 100mph in 10.2 seconds (0-160km/h in 10.2 seconds) and to a top speed of 198 mph (318km/h). The engine can run on both standard unleaded petrol (gasoline) and sustainable bioethanol (up to E85) or any mix of the two.

The car features an entirely hand-crafted interior, and the unique 'Cobra' design seats are supremely comfortable thanks to the latest body-supporting materials which use complex foams to provide softness but with excellent support over longer journeys.

The interior design is completed by the new touchscreen technology with rich map imagery and a 30GB on board hard drive. The 8-inch screen display can show you information regarding the car's audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings and the very latest navigation system. Bentley also introduces an 11-speaker Naim sound system which employs revolutionary Dirac Dimensions digital signal processing.

The new Bentley Continental GT coupe provided the carmaker's designers and engineers a perfect chance to establish a new direction for the Continental, which is considered as one of the company's highly touted names. Bentley's design and engineering teams were more than delighted to see the fruits of their work when the carmaker launched the first Bentley Continental GT in 2003.

This nameplate practically is a milestone for Bentley as it marked its revival while creating a new market segment. Now, the new Bentley Continental GT coupe continues offering the vaunted GT luxury and usability with Bentley grand touring spirit.

Building on the feat achieved its predecessor, the Continental GT four-seater coupe aims to indulge its target customers' wishes by bringing them to a whole new level of design, luxury, engineering, practicality and performance. Even at first look, customers are bound to fall in love with the Bentley Continental GT coupe's crisper and more refined looks, mainly thanks to the shape of its elegantly and luxuriously new body.

This premium body houses an interior that is not only comfortable and luxurious, but also very sophisticated and well designed – especially with its handcrafted elements. Every driver of the new Bentley Continental GT would surely love the comfort and luxury provided for by its seats that come with better support and more rear leg-room. Sophistication and stylish refinement are very apparent on the cabin's dashboard.

Adding to its appeal are certain technological features led by its new touchscreen infotainment system. This system offers state-of-the-art navigation and entertainment as well as Google Maps. On the other hand, sound inside the cabin is provided for by the latest Balanced Mode Radiator speaker technology and Dirac Dimensions digital sound processing.
