Bentley Motors revealed more details about the Mulsanne, its new flagship motorcar, following the car's successful premieres at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and Frankfurt's IAA Motor Show. Over 1,000 private previews have been conducted at Bentley Motors' factory in Crewe, England. A series of preview events was also held at dealerships throughout the US, UK, and Continental Europe.
The engineers developed the Mulsanne with refined performance and state-of-the-art luxurious features and styling, bearing the unparalleled quality of Bentley Motors' offerings. The Mulsanne starts at £220,000 in the UK. Bentley Motors Sales & Marketing Board Member Stuart McCullough said that the Mulsanne is a clear expression of Bentley Motors' excellent craftsmanship for which it is well-known.
Even at an early stage of introduction, McCullough claimed that the Mulsanne has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Bentley enthusiasts and potential clients who have been treated to private and exclusive previews.
Production will begin by the second quarter of 2010 at the Crewe factory. A new body production facility dedicated specifically to Mulsanne is being completed with cutting-edge assembly technologies such as the superforming of the aluminium front wings for excellent surface definition.
The new facility complements the traditional metal works such as steel joint hand-brazing that perfects a hewn-from-solid appearance. The Mulsanne is expected to arrive in the UK by the summer of 2010.
Bentley Motors will offer a wide array of choices as the flagship luxury vehicle will come in 114 palettes of paint colors, 24 interior leather hides— all of which will be tanned with the use of a reliable process to ensure that it will not lose its scent, 21 carpet colors, and nine wood veneers.
Furthermore, with the reliable services of Bentley Motors, unique colors can easily match a buyer's taste. Incorporated with more wood veneer and standard leather than any other Bentley Motors vehicles, it will take over two months to build the Mulsanne.
The hand-assembled V8 engine pays tribute to legendary Bentley models. However, for the Mulsanne, it is comprehensively enhanced to incorporate advanced systems that deliver better performance.
The new Bentley V8 engine is lightweight and has cylinder deactivation and variable cam phasing, allowing reduced fuel consumption and toxic emissions.
The interior of the Mulsanne is exquisitely made with advanced technology without compromising the classic Bentley features. Behind the heritage-inspired dials and glass-effect switches, there are new features such as iPod and MP3 connectivity, Bluetooth and sim card reader, and a 3G MMI system. Those looking for NAIM's premium audio system will enjoy the best and most powerful system employed in a production vehicle with a 20-channel, 2,200-watt sound experience.
